We said our goodbyes to Kaz, Nina, Inej, and the others and headed out to the car. We took Ronan's nicer car this time. It was loud on the way there thanks to the broken window and Ronan blasting his music. When the car came to a stop I sprinted out of the car to other side to beat Adam to Wylan's door. I wasn't going to let Ronan one-up me with this door opening business. I grabbed the door handle, prayed to the Saints that I was doing it right, and pulled it open.
The door swung open effortlessly and Wylan stepped out. "Thanks, Jes."
"My pleasure, Wylan Van Sunshine." I smiled.
Adam smiled at us. "You two have nicknames for each other."
"Shut up, Parrish," Ronan slammed his car door though he didn't look mad.
"Don't be so grumpy, Lynch."
Wylan and I turned around to observe the terrain. We were surrounded by cars of various types and a large concrete building with giant letters on it.
Wylan glared at the letters. Ronan noticed this and walked up to him. "Flip it off," Ronan advised. "It makes you feel better." Ronan held up his middle finger. "FUCK YOU ALPHABET!!"
A couple people here and there stared at him irritated, but most people just shook their heads and mumbled things along the lines of "that's Ronan Lynch."
Adam shook his head at his boyfriends out burst. "Let's head inside."
The four of us walked into the store and I was automatically hit with a bunch of cold wind. Wylan shuddered and I handed him my jacket. He took it with a mumbled 'thank you'.
"So, what do you guys need for the next three days?" Adam walked over to a line of cart things and took one. "Toothpaste, hair brushes, underwear?"
"They're from like four hundred years ago, Parrish," Ronan shoved his hands in his pockets. "They don't use that crap."
"If we were looking for clothes we probably should've brought the girls." Wylan said, staring at the store in awe. "Nina would kill us if we bought her clothes."
I nodded, he wasn't wrong. "I guess, just the usual stuff."
Adam nodded and we started walking around the store. Wylan made me leave my revolvers at the ladies' house so my nervous habit was turned to other things; holding Wylan's hand, touching things on the isles, 'accidently' throwing things at Ronan, and firing blue plastic guns at plastic dolls. The workers weren't very fond of that last one and Wylan kept yelling at me for being childish.
Once we finally bought everything we stopped right outside the door. "Revolver," Ronan ordered. "Grab thee another cart."
"Sorry?" I asked.
"Grab- fuck it, I'll do it." Ronan went back inside and came out with another rolly cart.
It had been a good bit of time since we got there and there were almost no cars left.
"You know the drill, Parrish." Ronan gestured to the cart.
"Do I have to?" Adam whined.
"Yes,"
"Come on, Ronan, I'm eighteen."
"So am I, get in."
Adam sighed and climbed into the cart. Ronan gestured to the extra cart and then to Wylan.
"I think he wants me to get in." Wylan whispered.
"Are you going to do it?" I whispered back.
He thought about it for a few seconds. Then shook his head. "Kaz has made me do stupider stuff." He climbed into the cart.
Ronan got behind Adam's cart and put his hands on the handle. "We run straight for a little bit and then when I say 'go' you jump up onto the foot rest." He instructed me.
I nodded. It didn't seem that hard. I didn't really get the point but I figured why not.
I grabbed the handle of Wylan's cart.
"Ready?" Ronan asked.
I nodded.
"Brace yourself." Adam advised Wylan. They both brought their knees up to their chest and held the sides of the carts.
"Three," Ronan counted. "Two, one!"
Ronan and I charged down the lot where the cars used to be as fast as we could.
"FEET UP!" Ronan yelled and I put my feet onto the foot rest.
We flew down the lot. Ronan yelled like a mad man while Adam screamed. I gave a holler myself and I heard Wylan screeching. We kept going as the wind blew in our faces. The fear of falling incased me and I loved it. Adrenaline rushed through me like blood in my veins.
All the sudden our cart hit a divot in the road causing the cart to go flying. Wylan and I sprawled onto the concrete and I felt the ground scrape my arm.
"You okay, Wy?" I asked watching Wylan crawl out of the cart.
"I'll live, you?" He looked up at me with his hair a mess.
I inspected the scrape on my arm. "I'm fine."
"Ha," I heard Ronan's voice a little bit ahead of me. "We won dipshits!"
I laughed. It was the biggest thrill I'd had since I'd moved into the Van Eck mansion and though my long for adrenaline became less when I started using my powers more, I still loved the rush.
Ronan noticed my giddy. "See, I told you you'd like it."
I helped Wylan up as Adam and Ronan walked towards us. "You two okay?" Adam asked.
Wylan nodded. "We've been through worse, trust me."
"We better head back, Gansey will start to get worried." Adam checked his phone for the time.
"Back to the Barns?" I asked.
"Yep," Ronan opened the car door. "Get in losers."
