After the excitement at the store we piled back into the car and headed to Fox Way to pick up the rest of Wylan's group. I drove back in my 'Hondayota' and arrived at the Barns just behind Ronan. Everyone went back to their bedrooms and Ronan and I slumped down on the couch.
"I should call work," I yawned.
"Why?" Ronan looked at me with narrowed eyebrows.
"Tell them I'm not going; the school too."
"Why the fuck are you not?"
"There are five delinquent teens from the 17th century in your house, Ronan. You can't handle this by yourself."
"Adam, I'll be fine. I promise."
"And if the house burns down?"
Ronan shrugged. "I'll blame it on Wylan."
I ran my hands through my hair and took deep breath. I didn't like this plan. Not that I didn't trust Ronan, I just don't completely, totally trust him with life forms and keeping them...well alive. Plus, if Kaz got on his nerves he would fly off the handle real quick.
Ronan grabbed my hand. "Hey, I got this."
I let out a big sigh. "Fine. But if I'm going to school I'm sleeping at the church; shorter ride."
Ronan nodded his head. "Makes sense. Tamquam."
I kissed his lips. "alter idem," and walked out.

The next two days day went by quickly and slowly at the same time. They were those days where the moments themselves go by slowly but when you finally lay yourself down to go to bed you felt like you had just waken up.
We were all hanging out in the living room of the Barns the night before Ronan and the gang- they informed us they are called 'Dregs'- were to set out for Ketterdam.
Ronan, who usually had me lean on him, was so tired he was practically curled up in my lap picking at the holes in his jeans.
"You need sleep," I whispered to him.
"Tomorrow," He grumbled.
"Today,"
"What if I bring something out?"
"I thought you were the dream king."
He lifted his head to smirked at me. "Do I seem kingly to you?"
I pretended to debate it. "Not really,"
His smirk dropped and he glared at me. "Asshole,"
I laughed.
Ronan watched everyone else for a few minutes, then turned back to me. "Now that I think about it, you never told me what happened at the reading."
I tensed. I'd hoped he had forgotten about that, or- since he hated readings so much- he wouldn't bother to ask.
"Adam," He sat up, "is everything okay?"
Not according to the reading. "I'm fine."
He inspected me; I didn't pass. "What aren't you telling me?"
He'd said it just loud enough to get everybody's attention.
"Nothing," I said.
"Adam," Ronan's voice took on a low gravely tone. "What happened at the reading?"
I swallowed. "I pulled a card for you...I...It was the Hanged Man."
Most of the people in the room looked at me confused, but Blue gasped and put her hands in front of her mouth.
