chapter 19

Jake's p.o.v

one moment Embry and i were having a conversation and the next he just stilled.i waved my hands in front of him but he didn't seem to notice.then as if something snapped in his mind,he strated running towards the forest.i called out his name but he wasn't paying me any attention.

worried that something wrong was happening,i followed after him.he seemed to be following a sound,someone was crying.the voice didn't seem fimiliar.as we neared the forest,the crying got louder and so did the smell.the smell of blood,it wasn't human,more like an animals's blood.deer,yes deer's blood and something else,i couldn't put my finger on it,but i had never smelt something like this before.it was a sharp intoxicating smell.it attracted me towards it,yet it signaled my brain to be aware.

as we reached the edge of the forest,we stopped.a girl was lying there,in a fetal position,covered in blood,crying.she had red hair and her skin seemed deathly pale.as if sensing us she looked up.her eye colour seemed strongly fimiliar,they were silverish green,so light as if the colour was fading.the strange thing was that between the green,streaks of black were visible.it sent my wolf on high alert mode,something was very wrong with this girl.

her eyes fell on Embry,he collasped on his knees to the ground.her eyes widened,fear mixed with curiosity flashed in them.my wolf felt a strong bond connecting to us,but it wasn't me forming a bond,it was Embry.whenever a bond formed with a pack member,the alpha also felt it,along with the pack member.the rest of the pack would also feel it,only when they were in wolf form.but being an alpha every pack member was very strongly tied to me,as if their wolf was my own.

but this bond was wierd,it was so strong that for a moment i couldn't breathe.i was suffocating.and then just like that it was gone,i felt as if a sting attached to my soul broke,i couldn't feel the connection to Embry any more.it was so confusing.the only time a connection from a pack member broke was when either,the pack member died,which Embry was clearly not.or when the pack memberleft the pack.had Embry left the pack?

the girl's eyes then fell on me,her eye colour had changed.it was more prominent now and the black streaks had dissapered.curiosity had left her eyes and now it was just fear and sadness.had something happened to her?ofcourse she was covered in blood wasn't she.but my wolf was so wary of her,that i couldn't feel pity or smpathy for her.the fear of the unknown.that's how i felt.not so much fear,but caution and suspicion.

i started to walk towards her,she started to tremble and crawled back,till her back hit a tree.fresh tears were begining to form in her eyes.her lips were quivering.i stopped and put my hands up in the air,indicating that i was of no threat to her. damn,what was i supposed to do?and why me,Embry was her mate ,wasn't he.why wasn't he doing anything?

i looked at him and he was still in the same position,on the ground,dumbstruck.a thought crossed my mind.Leah.Shit. but i couldn't focus on Leah right now,the girl infront of me was trebling like a leaf.i moved towards Embry and kneed him in his back."do something."i told him.he snapped his head up so fast,he would have surely twisted his neck if he wasn't a warewolf.he looked shock to see me,he must have been so ingrossed in the girl,he must have not felt me following him.i nodded towards the girl and repeated what i had just said.

he jumped to his feet.she was passed ot by now,laying unconciously on the ground.Embry lifted her up in his arms.and without paying me any attention,he started running away,in the direction of his house.

i was again left alone.that girl,her aura was sending mixed signals to my brain.like red and green trafic lights blinking together.my wolf was suspicious of her,yet just as Embry took her away,i missed her intoxicating smell.her smell,it didn't seem......human.or maybe it was just because she had deer's blood all over her.then again why was she covered in blood?

just when i was engrossed in my thoughts.i felt someone coming towards me.it was Quil and Leah.O God Leah,i felt a twist in my heart,i felt so bad for her,how would she react to this.i think if her heart broke again,she would not be able to repair it this time.so,i hoped,with all my being,that she not love Embry,like he had  loved her.

Quil's p.o.v

finally.a happy ending.it was so irritating listening to Embry go on and on for months about Leah.seriously,i get it.he was in love but seriously it was getting on my nerves.now  Leah was going to give a chance to Embry and i could now finally have some peace.

we had taken a little more time to reach Embry and Jake as Leah had to go back and get some clothes for herself.she was running like a maniac.seriously i dont see what the big hurry is,its not like Embry was going anywhere.i was happy for him.he was finally getting what he wanted.

as we neared the beach we slowed our pace,Jake and Embry were no where in sight.but their scents were their.we followed the scent and neared the edge of the forest.

 Jake was there,he seemed to be waiting for us but Embry was no where in sight.his face was blank,that's how I knew something was wrong.he always wore this face when something was wrong.

"hey Jake,have you seen Embry."Leah cut to the point.Jake hesitated before answering.yup,something was definitely bothering him.

"he went home."Jake answered cautiously.why?

"oh.ok.i guess I will see you guys later then.bye."Leah started moving in the direction of his house.

"I don't think that's a good idea."Jake called after her.there was pain on his face.as if it hurt him to say something.i just watched him in confusion.

"why not?"Leah asked him,raising an eye brow.

"he..."Jake took a deep breath,looking at his feet.like he was guilty of something and couldn't look Leah in her eyes."he...Leah......he found his mate."

Jake's p.o.v

No one spoke after I said it.i think no one even took a breath.i knew I had to say it.i couldn't let Leah go after Embry.it would have been  bad for both her and Embry.

I slowly looked up to look at Leah.i felt so guilty for doing this to her.i didn't know if Leah had loved Embry or not.but even if she had liked Embry I was sure this was going to hurt her.it was definitely going to bring out bad memories for her.

She turned her back on us.and slowly started to walk away."Leah."Quil called out to her.he looked like he wanted to do something.god,I wanted to do something.i felt so helpless right now,so useless.Quil looked like he himself was hurt,I knew that feeling,it also pained me,Leah was hurt and we couldn't fucking do anything about it.

 Leah stopped in her tracks when Quil called out to her.she didn't turn to face us.

"don't.just please don't."she said and ran away.even if I couldn't see her face.it was clearly evident from her voice.it was the voice of someone who had their heart broken.
