"Oh Star, I've missed you so much," she told me.

"We've all missed you too Mamă," I replied, "There's so much we have to discuss."

"Indeed," Mother replied, "For starters, who is that young man?"

"My husband, Calder Drake," I replied. Calder smiled at my Mother.

She looked at me curiously.

"Calder Drake?" she asked.

"He took my last name when we got married," I explained.

"I see," Mother stated, "Come inside, you two. We'll discuss everything over a glass of wine."

I nodded and we entered the cottage. The cottage itself wasn't very large, so we ended up walking into the living area. Calder and I removed our shoes and hung our coats on a nearby coat rack.

I looked around and took in my surroundings, the cottage was just as I remembered it.

The living room had a massive stone fireplace and around the fireplace were three dark brown couches. The floor was a light brown hardwood, but there was a patterned rug underneath the couches.

Mother sat down on one of the couches and Calder and I sat down on the one across from her. She poured three glasses of wine and handed two of them to us.

"How are your siblings?" Mother asked.

"Good," I replied, "Damien got married and has a son now. Stefan and Sorina have found their soul mates too."

"And Gabriel and Alexandra?" Mother asked.

I sighed. She didn't know about Alexandra.

"Lex...well...she's with Tată now," I admitted.

"What?" Mother gasped, "What happened?"

"She was shot by the Hunters," I admitted, "And her death sent Stefan spiralling downward. He took time some time away from us and ended up finding his soul mate."

"And the Hunters? Are they still out there?" Mother asked. She looked upset by Alexandra's death, but I knew she'd contain her emotions until she was alone.

"No," I replied, "We defeated them."

"And Marius?" Mother asked.

"He's dead, Damien's wife killed him," I replied.

"You haven't mentioned Gabriel yet," Mother noted, "Is he alright?"

"Gabriel is kind of the reason we were so desperate to find you, Mamă," I replied.

"What do you mean?" she asked.
