~Chapter 5~

MISAKI
Yuki and I walked to class quickly when I realized that something or rather someone was missing "where's Zero?" I asked confused as to why he hadn't come to get Yuki "Oh Zero! Chairman called him" she replied cheerfully and I nodded in response. Yuki kept talking as we walked to class but I had zoned out.
"-Saki! Misaki!" Yuki called trying to get my attention "huh? sorry what?" I asked slightly embarrassed "are you okay?" she asked concerned "yeah I'm fine" i replied hastily. Yuki looked as if she was going to ask another question but fortunately, we had arrived at our destination.
Before I could enter the class, Yuki gently pulled me back "Misaki...are you sure you're okay?" she asked "yeah nee-san, I'm fine....see?" I said about to do a back flip but stopped when I realized...I was wearing a skirt "this skirt gets in the way of everything" I grumbled but then something clicked "um nee-san" I said "what is it?" Yuki asked "we forgot our books" I pointed out and then there was nothing but silence........
Just as I was about to say something, Yuki grabbed my hand and started running "seriously?! Again?!' I exclaimed which Yuki responded to with laughter and after a second or so even I joined in. Yuki stopped running which nearly made me fall down "want to race?" she asked brightly but before I could respond, Yuki took off using vampire speed "Hey! Wait!" I called after her but she just ignored me....oh Great!
A sigh left my lips as I started running after her. I knew that if I didn't use something to increase my speed, I would be late for class. So i did just what I needed to do and sped off.
When I ran up to my dorm, I saw that Yuki was closing her door with her supplies in hand. "How did you get here so quickly?" she questioned shocked "um, you see..." I mumbled trying to come up with an excuse as she looked at me expectantly "I was on my past schools track and field team, so I have a habit of running quickly" I covered up successfully "really? wow" she beamed.....'she doesn't believe me, does she?' i sweat dropped "yeah, I think we should head to class now" I said and Yuki nodded.
Yuki and I sped to class and thankfully, we made it in time. When we ran into class, we saw that Zero was already in his seat. He looked up at us with a smile "morning sis, hello again Yuki. The two of you are making it a routine to come to class late, aren't ya?" Zero teased which made Yuki punch his arm "ow!" he exclaimed making me chuckle "behave you two" I playfully scolded as Yuki and I sat at our respective seats.
The rest of the day passed by slowly as I was struggling to keep my eyes open but if I were to nod off, a terrifying image would flash in front of my eyes which would scare me back to reality. As soon as the bell rang, Zero, Yuki and I dashed out of class to the crossover point.
"How do they get here so quickly?!" I exclaimed stopping in my tracks as I spotted the swarm of fan girls and boys "I swear if anyone can be called vampires it would be them" Zero grumbled "with that kind of speed, I can't agree with you more" Yuki stated "come on guys, cheer up. We should go and hold them back" I smiled slightly as I walked towards the crowd with Yuki and Zero by my side.
Zero and Yuki went over to the girls whilst I walked over to the boys "can you all please stop shouting and form a straight line?" I asked smiling and much to my surprise....they immediately listened to what I said and started looking at me with hearts in their eyes 'w-w-why?!' I sweat dropped yet again at that thought. I casually leaned against a tree as all the boys stared at me which made me very uncomfortable so I averted my attention to Zero who had a scary look on his face as he glared at his half of the girls but would occasionally look at the guys who were staring at me with a murderous glare 'cold' I thought. Zero was managing well but I can't really say the same about Yuki. She was trying to get them to calm down but to no avail because they blocked her out and continued to dwell in la la land so I decided to go help out a bit. "Need help nee-san?" I asked walking up to her "yes please" she sighed "leave it to me" I smiled at her then looked at the girls "hey!" I started "could you all please form straight lines?" I requested but they paid no heed to me. I repeated myself twice until I got fed up but before I could do anything, the large gate opened revealing the night class with Kaname at the front 'uh oh, too late' I thought defeated and turned back towards the girls who were now....in a straight line?! Yuki noticed my confused expression and giggled "they do this all the time" she laughed "just great" I grumbled.
The night class started walking down the path cleared just for them when all of a sudden I was pushed and started falling forward. I closed my eyes waiting for the impact but nothing came as arms wrapped around my waist making me flinch in pain. I slowly opened my eyes to see Kaname's face inches away from mine causing an involuntary blush to color my cheeks. My eyes trailed from his chin up to his concerned eyes "are you okay?" he asked but I couldn't respond... I was mesmerized by his garnet eyes "Misaki" he said softly with a small smile "yeah?" I whispered captivated.....ehhhhh?!!?! "are you okay?" he questioned again with a smile "yeah i'm fine. Thank you Kuran-senpai" I blushed as I tried to escape his grip without flinching in pain from the pressure on my wounds. Unfortunately, Kaname noticed "are you hurt?" he asked "not at all. I was saved from any injury thanks to you Kuran-senpai" I smiled politely but my smile faltered when I saw an emotion of pain flash in his eyes but it was gone as soon as it came. "Hello Kuran"Zero greeted coming up to us "I'll take care of her from here. You should be going to class" Zero said and pulled me away from Kaname "Ah yes, Mr. Disciplinary Committee. Thank you for your hard work Misaki and Yuki" Kaname smirked before turning and heading to class with the rest of the night class trailing behind him.
"Are you okay?" Yuki asked for the millionth time as we patrolled the school grounds "Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry nee-san" I smiled as I played around with my gloves. "You should be careful with that" Zero warned "why?" I questioned "because we don't know what that thing is" he replied "it's gloves Zero, gloves" I retorted "what i meant was that we don't know what those GLOVES do" he stated "oh yeah" I said and and started chasing him, whilst waving my gloved hands in the air "get her away from me!" Zero yelled running but Yuki just stood there doubled over in laughter. I was inches away from Zero when he abruptly stopped running making me run right into his back "ow!" I groaned rubbing my head in pain "serves you right" Zero laughed at me so I playfully glared at him before sticking my tongue out "ble_______h".
I stood on the balcony and looked at the night class whilst Yuki and Zero patrolled the perimeter of the school. The night class were all lost in their own world as the teacher yapped on and on. The wind suddenly picked up making my hair fly out all over the place and the next thing I saw was blood red eyes which belonged to Hanabusa Aidou. The way he was staring at me made my eyes widen. Kaname got up from his seat and grabbed Aidou by his collar, walking out of class. My eyes followed them until they were confined within the walls of the moon dormitory.  By this time, Yuki and Zero had joined me on the balcony "what did Aidou do this time?" Yuki asked with a sigh "I really don't know" I stated confused as to why Kaname would just drag Aidou away in the middle of a class.
The rest of the night passed by peacefully but when I was walking back to my dorm, I caught a glimpse of something moving in the woods so I looked closer and saw a black...dog? No, that's way too big to be a dog. Was it a wolf? I dismissed that thought as I remembered the school rules against having pets.
I wanted to go investigate but Yuki was keeping an eye on me so I couldn't escape my dorm without having to play 20 questions with her. Sighing, I walked back to my dorm and threw myself down onto the bed but winced in pain upon impact. I got up slowly and changed into a pair of grey sweatpants and a white full sleeves t-shirt, then I proceeded to put all my weapons away carefully but I kept on my gloves, necklace and rings. I slowly lay back down on the bed and closed my eyes only to have them snap open within a matter of seconds...why is that man's face haunting me? Every time I closed my eyes, his face would flash before my eyes. Eventually, I gave up and just lay there running the events of my life so far in my mind. I don't want to get attached to anyone here because in the end, I don't want to put them in danger and neither do I want to lose them...just like everyone else I ever loved.
They died and it's all my fault...I'm nothing but bad luck. These words were narrated to me by my last guardian and he was absolutely correct. I am JUST bad luck. The thought of losing my new family made a tear roll down my cheek and it was at that point that I decided i wouldn't lose them and for that...
I have to protect them at all costs
