~Chapter 8~

MISAKI
"Yuki-nee wake up" I groaned shaking the sleeping girl for the twelfth time "what?" she moaned sleepily "finally! stop sleeping like a log, it's time to get ready" I said relieved that she was half awake "nee-chan?" I asked when she didn't budge "zzz..." she snored lightly "you can't be serious!" I exclaimed frustrated but did she wake up? no, no she did not. I sighed and walked into my room to complete my morning routine, have a bath, cover up my scars, dry my hair and tie it up, then lastly put on eyeliner and a light layer of lip gloss before rushing out off the room with my books. When I went outside, I saw Zero leaning against a tree with his eyes closed "morning" I smiled "morning" he smiled opening his eyes "where's Yuki?" he asked looking for her "still sleeping, please do something" I pleaded pointing at her window "on it. Oh by the way, chairman wanted to see you" he informed before running into the dorm. Shite...is he angry because of what I did yesterday? I sighed running into the school building and to the chairman's office, where before I could even knock, the door swung open and I was pulled into a bear hug "can't...breathe" I choked out "sorry" the chairman grinned holding me at shoulder length "you're the best daughter ever!" he squealed pulling me back into the bear hug "dad...really..can't...breathe" I said trying to ignore the pain caused by the pressure on my wounds "chairman" an all too familiar voice said "kaname" Chairman smiled at the said male who sent a warning glance at the chairman. All of a sudden, the chairman released me "how can I help you Kaname?" the chairman grinned nervously "the letters that need to be sent to the families of the night class are ready, if you could please review them then I can put the Kuran seal on it and have it sent" Kaname explained "I'll have someone pick it up, you can go back to your dorm and rest Kaname" the chairman smiled and Kaname nodded "have a nice day chairman, Misaki" he smiled at me then walked off down the hallway "rather perfect isn't he?" the chairman asked from beside me "what?" I questioned turning my head to look at him "you were staring at him" the chairman teased walking into his office "I was not" I defended following after him. I looked at his desk and immediately felt concerned, his desk was crowded with paper work and documents "ch-dad, is there anything I can help you with?" I asked gesturing to the desk overflowing with papers "now that you mention it, could you head over to the moon dorms and go over the letters with Kaname?" he requested "dad..class?" I asked suddenly feeling nervous "it's okay, you're doing your job as a prefect, please" he pleaded using puppy dog eyes and I...couldn't say no "alright" I sighed "thank you!" he smiled "it's my pleasure" I smiled back before heading over to the moon dorms. 
I stood outside the tunnel leading to the moon dorm "who are you?" a man demanded popping out of nowhere "I'm a prefect, I'm here to meet Kaname Kuran" I explained trying to calm my nerves...where had he come from? He nodded and opened the gate to let me through but locked it as soon as I got inside 'okay then' I thought walking to the entrance of the dorm and knocking before entering. "Woah" I breathed as I took in my surroundings, this place was luxurious "You must be Misaki" a gentle voice said which made me jump...literally "y-yes" I stuttered turning around to see a beautiful girl with sandy brown hair leaning against a wall with a glass in her hand "Souen-San, am I right?" I asked politely since I recalled Yuki mentioning people from the night class "please, call me Ruka" she smiled kindly but before I could reply a tall male came out, his orange hair messy "where were you Ruka?" He grumbled sleepily wrapping his arms around her waist "Kain behave" Ruka scolded playfully...it seems nice to be in love.  Akatsuki Kain looked over at me " hello" he greeted "hello, my name is Misaki, pleasure to meet you both" I  said bowing my head slightly "the pleasure is ours...what brings you here?" Ruka asked kindly "actually I'm here to meet Kuran-sama" I replied "oh, he should be on his room. It's up the stairs, the last door to the right" Ruka smiled meaningfully we if she knew something that I didn't "thank you, have a nice day" I smiled before making my way upstairs and to the last door on the right. I contemplated whether I should knock or just leave and talk to him about it later but I remembered the chairman's work load and sighed before knocking on the double doors "come in" the voice I knew all too well called. I took a shaky breathe in before opening one of the doors and stepping inside "hello" I greeted casting my eyes towards  the floor when I saw Kaname. He was laying on the couch with one hand lazily draped across his face whilst the fingers of his other hand toyed with a chess piece, the first two buttons of his black shirt were unbuttoned, he might look like he has little to no muscles when he's in his school uniform but trust me...the guy is built. I shook my head slightly at my thoughts as a blush adorned my cheeks "You shouldn't come to the moon dorm alone" Kaname spoke with his eyes still closed but he stopped moving the chess piece around "I'm sorry?" I asked not quite believing what he said "this place doesn't have a single human Misaki, it's dangerous" he replied looking at me "I've come on behalf of the chairman, he asked me to review the letters with you" I informed watching him sit up straight "please take a seat" he said "I apologize for taking up your resting time" I apologized "it's not a problem at all" he smiled kindly as I sat down on one of the chairs surrounding his coffee table which was nearly as bad as the chairman's except Kaname managed to keep it in neat stacks. My eyes scanned his room, it was surprisingly neat, a large bookshelf adorned one of his walls, he had a four poster canopy bed with silky black sheets and a chess board was placed on it, he had a bedside table which had a vase holding a single red rose along with a knocked over photo frame 'yup this is much neater than Nao's was' I thought "Nao?" Kaname asked..I said that out loud? "oh he was my foster brother" I said smiling sadly at the lovable emotional fool he was and then an image of his dead body appeared before my eyes. I took in a sharp breathe and let it out to prevent myself from crying "shall we start?" I asked snapping Kaname out of his thoughts "certainly" he said but I don't know if it was just me or if he really had an undertone of sourness to his voice...nah must have just been my imagination. 
Kaname got up and sat closer to me whilst picking up the stack of letters. I opened one which was addressed to the Aidou family and started to read it "these are about the christmas vacation and their performance" I stated after I was done reading the first letter "that's right" Kaname replied. I really have to go get the christmas presents before everything is sold out. As we read the letters and made corrections together, Kaname had to edge closer to me as even he had to read the letters over but everytime he got closer, my heart started beating faster. I inhaled his masculine scent as he once again came closer, I was absorbed in reading the letters that I didn't notice when a strand of my bangs slipped from the bobby pin holding it back but Kaname noticed because soon enough his warm fingers lightly brushed it behind my ear "t-thank you" I blushed "you're welcome" he breathed and I could feel his minty breathe on my cheek.
With no control over myself, my head turned so that our eyes could lock and I felt as if I was being held captive by his beautiful eyes. His wine coloured eyes stared into my reddish-brown ones, every aspect of him seemed clearer now- his pale skin was blemish free, his eyes were unreadable, his bangs were guilty of covering his beautiful eyes, his hair was much longer than it was when I first saw it and his lips were...perfect "your hair is much longer now" I muttered softly "I haven't had time to have it trimmed" he chuckled "would you like me to cut it for you?" I asked without thinking "If it's not too much of a trouble for you" he smiled "not at all but first let's finish these" I smiled pointing at the remaining letters. I sighed in relief after we read all of them "would you like to put the seal?" Kaname asked handing me a stamp and the ink for it "really?" I asked trying to contain my excitement and he nodded "thanks" I smiled taking them from him and started putting his family seal on the letters then when I was done, I put them in a neat stack "you're as bad as the chairman" I laughed slightly "how so?" Kaname inquired curiously "the workload I mean, it's quite a lot for just the two of you to handle but it's admirable how well the two of you do it" I explained "oh no, the chairman has much more work than I do, after all he is the chairman of this school" Kaname smiled "that's quite modest of you to say" I smiled back "maybe so" He chuckled "would you still like me to cut your hair?" I asked "yes please" he smiled thankfully.
Kaname got up and went into his washroom before coming out with a pair of scissors and a comb, I gently sat him down on the seat I was sitting on before then proceeded to combing out his hair gently. His hair was so silky, it kind of made me look at mine in shame "how would you like it to be trimmed?" I asked "any way you see fit" he replied and that was that. I began trimming the length of his hair to be slightly shorter than it was when I first saw him, I moved in front of him to work on his bangs and I had to stoop down a bit to cut it correctly. I noticed Kaname had closed his eyes and he looked at ease, once again I found our faces closer than it should be but somehow...it felt right. 
I had to force myself to lean away from him, I couldn't even begin to understand why I needed to use any, much less nearly all, of my willpower to put distance between us. I clipped one last piece of his hair and smiled in satisfaction "all done" I said brushing some hair off of his shirt and...his face "thank you" he smiled before I stepped back so that he could get up and see himself in the mirror "it's wonderful" he said with his usual close-lipped smile "thanks" I grinned sheepishly. I looked at the clock on his wall and my eyes widened, the last lecture was about to come to an end...I've been here for the whole day "I should get going, it's nearly time for the crossover. I'm so sorry that because of me you couldn't rest" I apologized realizing that he hasn't slept "you shouldn't be sorry, I enjoyed having you here" he smiled which made a slight crimson hue adorn my cheeks "I'm glad to have been here, see you later" I smiled about to leave but he stopped me "Misaki" he called "yes?" I looked back at him "could you give this to Yuki? she left it downstairs" Kaname asked taking a beige coat out from his closet "sure, bye" I said taking the coat from his hands and in the process of doing so, our fingertips touched and the tingling sensation remained as I walked down the hallway away from his room. I was so lost in thought that I bumped into someone.
"Oh I'm sorry" I apologized looking at the person who I bumped into before picking up the book he dropped, I saw it was a manga and nearly had a fan girl attack "Oh Cross-chan, strange seeing you here" the blonde grinned, I recognized him as Takuma Ichijo "I really am very sorry" I said handing him his manga back "ah I should be the one apologizing, I was too absorbed in my manga" he grinned scratching the back of his neck "that is an amazing manga" I commented looking at the cover of the 'noblesse' manga "I know right! Wait a minute...do you like manga?!" he questioned excited "and anime" I grinned, his grin was quite infectious "we are going to be really good friends! would you like to go downstairs and talk?" He asked, his eyes sparkling "I do apologize Ichijo-san but I have to head over to the crossover" I smiled sadly but the blonde wasn't affected "we have all the time in the world later on! please call me Takuma. Let me escort you outside" Takuma grinned looping his elbow with mine and dragging me downstairs whilst chatting excitedly "I'll see you around Misaki-chan" he grinned as he walked me out the main door to the moon dorm "that you will Takuma-san" I smiled "please, if you have to add anything to my name, add -kun or even -chan but not -san, it makes me feel old" he pouted childishly "okay..Takuma-kun, see you later" I smiled and the blonde gave me a fist bump before hopping back inside. I chuckled as I walked past the fountain but I stopped when I felt someone's stare burn holes into my back, I instinctively looked up at Kaname's window to see his leaning on the window sill. I grinned and waved at him before running past the bridge and through the moon dorm gates where I stopped to see if Yuki and Zero were around but they weren't.
I ran into the school building only to bump into Yuki and Zero "there you are, how was the meeting with onii-sama?" Yuki grinned playfully bumping her shoulder against mine "normal" I blushed remembering the times our faces were so close that a little more closer and we would have kissed "she's as red as a tomato" Zero commented poking my cheek "s-shut up, Yuki-nee, Kaname gave this for you, he said you left it in the moon dorms" I said handing her the coat. She took it from my hands and stared at it in confusion but then her eyes lifted to meet mine and a grin appeared on her face "Misaki, I think this will suit you. Please accept it" Yuki grinned giving it to me "I can't take that" I said shocked "please, it's an early christmas gift from me to you" she said with puppy dog eyes "you and the chairman need to stop doing that" I groaned taking the coat from her outstretched hands "thanks" I said "no problemo, now go keep this in your room and come back downstairs, we will see you at the crossover" Yuki smiled before walking off hand-in-hand with Zero. I unlocked my dorm room and placed the coat gently on the bed before heading over to the mirror staring at my reflection, I softly trailed my fingers along the same path Kaname used to brush my hair aside and much to my surprise, a smile accompanied by a crimson blush adorned my face. His eyes were so enchanting that I didn't want to look away.
It might be a childish thought but, I felt as if I've seen those eyes before and for some reason...
...I wanted to protect the warmth I had seen in them...
