I go to work and get back to my normal routine for a few weeks. I've been ghosting Christian and Jax. I've been trying to focus on my job without getting distracted. Although, Christian has popped up on several occasions, but I've hid from him all those times. By hid I mean not opening the door. He knows I'm ignoring him. Jax on the other hand doesn't care if I've ignored him or not, which is pretty self explanatory. Lately, Tara and I have been getting along great at work. Now that I know the truth about her and Jax, I can sympathize what she goes through. Besides, I've seen how Jax is at the clubhouse with the strippers or porn stars whatever they are. It's kind of fucked up but I'd like to think he's faithful enough. I think he's all talk but I doubt he'd sleep with someone else.
"Hey Dr. Knowles." I tell Tara as she's sitting alone in the cafeteria, so I sit with her.
"Hi Marylin." We both started eating our lunch.
"I think I need a restraining order against Christian, he's kind of psychotic."
"He doesn't sound too bad. He probably just really enjoys your company and misses it."
"Yeah I don't know."
"Why are you being stupid about this? He has a lot of money, he can take you out of this shitty town."
"Why'd you come back?"
"To Charming?"
"Yeah didn't you leave?"
"How did you know?" Fuck.
"...... Gemma told me once I think."
"Gemma told you? That's odd."
"Yeah I'm not sure how the conversation came about."
"I came back because I was in danger from an ex I had, he was stalking me and getting violent. That's why I'm telling you that Christian doesn't seem bad."
"Yeah but I guess I just don't like the clingy type."
She chuckles, "I wish Jax was clingy."
"Is he not?"
"Don't act like you don't know how he is"
"Yeah I guess. Can I ask you something, not in an offensive way?"
"Sure"
"Why are you with him? You're really nice and he's clearly a bit... I don't know how to explain but you know what I mean."
"Why am I with a biker convict who's around hookers and other convicts all day?"
"Yeah if you put it that way."
"I keep trying to ask myself the same thing." I didn't know what to say so I didn't say anything.
"I guess it's because we have history. He was my first love and once you get to know him on the intimate level that I have which I hope you won't, you see things a bit different. It's a side of him that not many get to see."
"That makes sense. I was kind of like that with some guy back in SF, he actually came recently and it was a while disaster."
"Was that the guy that Jax punched?"
"Yes." I said and we both laughed.
"Anyway I gotta head out. Nice talking to you." She said and left.
After doing a 28 hour shift, I was finally able to go home.
I couldn't help but to check my phone to see if Christian has sent me any messages, which he has not. He stopped about a few days ago. I was starting to feel a bit lonely. All my life, I've had really long relationships and friendships. This was the first time I wasn't surrounded by my people. I felt isolated being here, like I didn't belong.
A few days passed and I decided to call Christian, but he didn't answer. I texted/ emailed him but I didn't hear back. I guess he started ghosting me now. I also haven't seen Jax in awhile.
I sat outside my porch and decided to smoke. I saw Jax pulling in his driveway, which was quite a surprise. I knew Tara was at work so I felt like this was chance to chat with him.
"Hey neighbor." I said as I was exhaling my smoke.
"Hey darling long time no see." He said as he started walking over here with that little smirk he always has. He came over and sat right next to me while he took out a smoke for himself.
"Where's the billionaire boyfriend?" He asked.
"I wouldn't know. We kind of broke up I guess if you even call that dating." He looked down.
"He didn't cancel the deal."
"Yeah I know. I already told you to do what you gotta do."
"Yeah we're working on it, he's been MIA. From the looks of it looks like from you too."
"Yeah I don't really give a shit. Tired of dating."
"If you're ready to quit the dating life we can always use some more girls down at the club house." He said with a smirk.
"Oh yeah? How much are you gonna give me?"
"I'm a married man darling."
"Jesus." I said and kept smoking.
"Come by the clubhouse tonight. We're having a family reunion. Outside state charters will be there. Might find something you like."
"I'll let you know."
He got up and walked to his house.
