Gifts

After school, Yugi meets up with Atem at the training field. He sees Atem has set up training dummies made of straw.

"What are these for?" Yugi asks, head tilting in curiosity.

"I did say I'd show you how I can read cards," Atem answers.

Atem opens the pack, that is hooked to his belt, and pulls out a deck of cards. Yugi notices that they look almost like tarot cards.

"Are you a vampire or a sorcerer?" Yugi giggles.

Atem smirks, "I only know card tricks."

Yugi giggles again as Atem shuffles the cards.Then Atem picks the top card. He holds it in front of him, the face of the card facing toward the straw dummy.

"Tobiume!"

The card flashes a white light and, quick as a flash, a fireball bursts and hits the dummy. The dummy quickly disintegrates and turns into a pile of ash.Yugi watches with wide eyes.Atem places the card on the bottom of the deck before grabbing the top card. Atem flashes the card at the dummy, just like he did with the first one.

"Hyorinmaru!"

The card flashes with a white light before a burst of ice spears shoot to the dummy. They turn the dummy into ice itself before it shatters to pieces.

"Whoo..." Yugi whispers to himself.

Third and final dummy.Atem grabs the top card.

"Shinso!"

The card flashes once again and lasers beams shoot from the card, piercing and cutting through the dummy.

Atem looks over at Yugi, "So... what do you think?"

"I wish my power was that cool."

"Don't belittle your gift Yugi."

Yugi looks up at Atem, who walks over and places a kiss on Yugi's forehead.

"Just wait until we find OUR gift."

Yugi smiles. He almost forgot about how their bond will unlock their gift to each other.

"I'm eager to find out what it is," Yugi admits.

"Any of the others find theirs?" Atem asks.

"Only Bakura and Marik," Yugi answers, "They've been together since their last year of the academy."

"What can they do?"

"Well separately, Marik has hypnotism. Bakura can use location."

Yugi holds out his left hand, showing the violet bracelet on his wrist.

"With this bracelet, Bakura can come find me. We have bracelets and so does Bakura. They help find his way to us. If I need help or something, I can place my energy in this bracelet like a signal."

"That's very impressive."

"Their bond power is portals. They can create them which leads them to one another. However they still wear the bracelets."

"I'm sure it's due to sentimental valve."

"I guess you're right."

Atem sits in the grass. Yugi happily sits next to him.

"What about Kaiba and Jonouchi?" Atem asks after he lays down.

"Jonouchi didn't find his power until after he got together with Kaiba," Yugi answers, "Jonouchi is lucky."

"Lucky?"Yugi nods, "Yes, lucky. Like your gift, you would have to see it."

Atem softly chuckles, "Noted."

"Kaiba has electricity. No bolts coming from the sky though."

"Not yet maybe. Kaiba seems like one that was given quite the gift."

Yugi tilts his head. Atem reaches over and pulls Yugi by the shoulder, having him lay down next to Atem. Yugi smiles before laying his head on the Alpha's chest. Atem wraps his arm around Yugi's waist.

As the sun sets, Yugi sits up.

"I need to go back. I need to eat."

Atem stands up before helping Yugi to his feet.

"How do you forget to feed?"

"I just get distracted. I don't know why... it's never happened before."

"Either way, let's get you something to eat."
