Sparring

Yugi wanted to know more about his new friend, so the two spend lunch together at the outdoor area. They sit at one of the picnic benches. Yugi brought pento boxes for each of them.

"So you told me some about your mother, what about your father?"

"I don't see him much, he's always busy. Even though, he always comes home for dinner with mother and me."

Yugi smiles.

Atem takes a bite, "How about yourself Yugi?"

"There's my mom and grandpa. The house is attached to the game shop that my grandpa owns."

"Games, hmm?"

"Yeah. He taught me many games."

"Perhaps we could play sometime. I like to play various games."

Yugi smiles wide, eyes twinkling, "Really? I'd like that!"

Atem smiles at Yugi's excitement.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Of course Yugi."

"What kind of training did you go through in Egypt?"

"Why are you so curious?"

"Well, you're so strong and fast."

"Don't you do well?"

Yugi looks down, "I'm barely passing."

Yugi then looks up. Atem could see a plan has peaked in Yugi's mind.

"How about a sparring match? Please Atem? Please?"

"A sparring match?"

"I want to be stronger."

"How come? Wouldn't your Alpha protect you?"

Yugi shakes his head, "I haven't met my Alpha yet."

Atem felt a sense of hope for himself.

"But that's not the point."

"What point are you trying to make then Yugi?"

"What if... What if my Alpha gets hurt somehow? I want to be able to protect him. I shouldn't have to rely on him for protection. I don't want to be that kind of a burden."

Atem smiles warmly. Yugi is much different than plenty of Omegas Atem has encountered in Egypt.

"Lunch first then maybe after school, a sparring match.

Yugi nods with a big smile still on his face.

School has ended and Yugi meets Atem out at the training field. The training field seems quiet without a class full of young vampires.

"I'm ready when you are Atem."

"Remember, this is just a sparring match."

Yugi nods, "I know."

"Alright then."

Yugi gets into a fighting stance.Atem could tell it was an awkward stance.

"For starters... here," Atem says before changing Yugi's stance.

"Have your right foot forward and keep your hands like this. It's quicker to defend your face that way."

Yugi smiles, "Thanks Atem.

Atem smile back before putting distance between him and Yugi.He gets into his own fighting stance. He waits for Yugi to make the first move. Yugi extends his fangs and claws before taking the first swing at Atem.Atem easily dodges before, he as well, extends his own fangs and claws. It obviously shows Atem's vampiric features are larger than Yugi's.Atem makes an attack which Yugi blocks.

"Very good," Atem says before launching a swing which Yugi ducks and then jumps back.Atem makes a quick strike. Yugi barely dodges. He figures he'll need to be quick if he wants to match Atem.Yugi tries to take advantage with using quick strikes, one after another after another. Not to leave too long of a break in between blows that might give Atem a chance to look for a counter attack. Only to keep moving and dodging.Atem is impressed to see Yugi come up with a strategy but he knew he's faster.Atem was able to jump back, putting distance between him and Yugi.Yugi grits his teeth that his plan didn't quite work.

"I think that's enough. We can try this again another time Yugi."

Yugi retracts his fangs and claws.

Atem smiles as he retracts as well, "And I think you did great."

"...Yeah?"

Atem nods, "Yeah. We should get some dinner."

"Hey! Mokuba is coming with some special dumplings for all of us. You should come with and meet the rest of my friends."Atem smiles once again, "That sounds lovely."
