Peter hung up the phone with a grim look on his face. "What is it?" I asked. I was putting away the groceries and had just put the onions away. "It's my dad," he said. "He's been shot."

I put down the nutella in my hand. I hovered over to him and put a hand on his shoulder. Matthew bounded into the living room. He zipped into the kitchen in all in one slick move, he had a nutella sandwich. Almost at the very same time, I saw the hairs on his neck rise lightly. He tensed, but continued to chew his toast. I led Peter the bedroom.

I could practically feel Peter's confusion. Things with his father had always been rocky. When he was 16, Hiram had been shot. Peter didn't know how to feel, because Hiram didn't except Peter because he seemed to 'white' for Hiram, unlike Veronica, who was wore in like with her fellow Latina ancestors.

I took his hand. "You don't have to care. But you do have to make sure Ronnie is gonna be okay."

Peter nodded, then cupped his hands around my face. He kissed me deeply and firmly. I smiled in the breaks. He brushed the hair from my face and looked into my eyes. "What's so funny?"

I bit my lip and smiled. "Nothing," I said. "I just feel 15 again, you know?"  Peter grinned. "Yeah. I know."

We walked out of the bedroom. We looked around for Matthew, calling his name through the house. He heart pounded when he didn't answer. Suddenly, Peter's eyebrow crumpled and he looked up.

And there Matthew was, spread out like a spider. Peter smiled. "Nice job kiddo. Now, get down."

Matthew dropped himself by one arm and sauntered into his bedroom. I giggled and so did Peter. Then we retreated back know to our room, and fell out.
