Oliver Lewis sat on the grass outside. It was a fresh day outside. He begins to cry.
Oliver watched as everyone outside held hands or walked with everyone.
He envied being able to be with someone. But what hurt more was seeing Belle.
Belle was Oliver's very big "crush," perhaps. He loved her for so long and wanted to be with her. Grow old with her and have a kid.
Belle always hung out with Oliver at lunch too. There was a slight possibility that she would've loved him too.
Instead, Oliver observed her getting crushes. Everyone around him.
Why couldn't she see?She was perfect. She was smart, funny, quiet, she was amazing. Oliver wanted to at least have a chance somehow in some way.
Oliver hid these feelings from her. She would probably hate him for life if she figured out this was a thing. That he secretly wished Belle would hold his hand.
She would be disgusted, he told himself. No one loves you, you're worthless. She would hate you and never talk to you again. She would probably tell about it to everyone in school and they'd make fun of you. You are nothing, good luck trying to get something going.
Oliver wiped the tears from his eyes. He sighed calmly, and smiled. He stared at her, hiding away his face. Of course, she didn't see him look at her from far away. But Oliver whispered, "Eh. It's whatever."
"For sure, heh."
Oliver jumped so much his heart instantly ran 20 miles an hour. He looked everywhere and around, and saw a girl with short hair behind him, leaning against the tree he sat under.
"What the hell?! You scared the shit out of me!" Oliver said, getting up.
"Sorry." The girl said, distinctly sarcastic. "So you like Belle?"
"What? Nuh-no, I-"
"Admit it. You do." The girl said.
Oliver began to swell up again and almost cried again. There was such an uncomfortable silence that killed him.
"My name is...Breezy." Breezy said.
"Odd name. My name is Oliver." Oliver responded.
"I'm not usually this weird, just so you know. I just feel like I need to scare someone, y'know?" Breezy said.
"Uh-huh...anyway, what did you want?" Oliver said, crossing his arms.
"..." Breezy stayed silent and looked at the ground. "I kind of wanted to...to see what you were doing."
Oliver looked at Belle again. She was gone from the spot she was at.
"She's pretty." Breezy said. "To be honest...I'd date her."
"What? You're lesbian?" Oliver said.
"Hmm? No, of fucking course not. At least...I don't think so." Breezy said. She scowled at the ground.
"Patrick Hothstetter is gonna co-"
"-me for me, I know." Breezy completed a sentence Oliver was about to say.
"You've most likely heard everything then, I'm guessing." Oliver said.
Breezy nodded.
"Anyway sweetie, what were you looking at the girl for?" Breezy asked. "...why'd I say that?"
"Uh...I just..." Oliver said.
"'UH, I JUST...' Just what? C'mon, tell me." Breezy said impatiently.
"...I wish she liked me. That's all." Oliver said, shrugging.
"Do you think she'd like you?" Breezy questioned.
"No. Not at all. I...I just want her to see what I think of her. See my thoughts." Oliver responded.
"I see. Well olive...I don't know how to help you. I wish I did." Breezy said sadly.
"It's fine. I'll live with it...I only want her to have a good and happy life with or without me." Oliver turned to Breezy. "She deserves it, you know?"
Breezy nodded again.
"Well...well I mean, I hope she sees that star within you. But if you really don't think she'd like you, let her go. Let her live the life you want her to have." Breezy said slowly. "Even if she isn't with you."
"She isn't dead, miss." Oliver said.
"I know, I know. But just know, she's a good person. Let her do what good people do." Breezy said.
"My mother always told me that people are like oranges. There are those oranges who are sweet and soft, and those who are tasteless and rough. No matter what, give them a chance." Oliver said.
"Your mother is Gandhi!" Breezy claimed. Oliver chuckled.
