Chapter 16

“Alex” I whispered shaken completely. “Macy, are you ok you look pale” Alex said looking worried. I move backwards from him a bit and look around. It was only me and him in the room. That’s when I felt the nervous flips in my stomach. Oh great. “I’m fine” I said quietly. “You sure” Alex said as he put his hand to my head “you feel kind of hot” I felt the tingles erupted at his touch once again. I tried to speak but all sense of words got chewed up. This was new. “Macy” Alex repeated worried. “I’m fine” I said moving away from him.

Alex slowly moved his hand back to himself and had his eyes trained on me like I was going to collapse at any moment. “What are you even doing here anyway?” I asked.

“I just came here to talk to you about what happened before in the scriptures room but then as soon as I came here you were asleep and shaking and then you whispered stop and then you screamed” Alex said again with worry in his voice. “Oh” I said trying to remember what happened. I looked around to the window beside me to see the sky a dark black colour. It was night already. I must have slept for a good few hours.

“I must have had a nightmare” I said not knowing what else it could have been. “Can you remember what it was about?” Alex asked me. I close my eyes and tried to concentrate but nothing came in my mind. I couldn’t remember what the nightmare was. “It’s alright sometimes when the nightmare is too horrible your brain locks it up away so you don’t remember it at all. But it’s over now so you don’t have to worry” I nodded my head agreeing with Alex but still why did I feel so frightened?

“We should talk about before what happened in the scriptures room now” I said feeling like I had to change the subject. “Yeah” Alex agreed and was about to open his mouth when the door opened to reveal Amy however she was not alone. Jeffrey was besides her looking good as knew. I force on the smile despite the churning feeling in my stomach because I couldn’t talk to Alex. “Hey you two” I said “looking good as knew” “Yeah, thanks for your help back at the resistance army base” Jeffrey said happily and straight out. “You’re welcome” I replied “by the way what are you doing here” I asked. I wondered if Katrina knew where he was. I doubt she did because if she knew then she would stick on his hip like glue. “I’m actually here for the native language spell. Thought I could help” Jeffery said before entering the room. I look over at Amy shock “you told” I said. “I’m sorry, it just kind of slip out” Amy said.

I knew Amy was lying. She probably told on purpose so that Jeffrey would come obviously. She probably thinks that Jeffrey would give her some inner strength. Well if it does then what the heck it doesn’t matter. “So have you got everything for the spell” I asked Alex. “Yeah everything Brain has just gone to get the last candle” Alex said and I guess he was about to say more when Brain came bursting inside the room. Speaking of the devil I thought. “Got it” Brain said with pride as he held a candle up in a winning position. “Yay” I said sarcastically before throwing the bed covers off me. Brain gave me a dirty look before throwing the candle to Amy who almost lost it.

“Where is Jade?” I ask because she was the only one who wasn’t here. “Oh I just banged into her on the way here. She said that she was busy with her mission because some order went wrong. She said she would come as soon as possible” Brain answered.

“Well we better start now” Amy said as she places the candle in a holder on the table. As soon as she did that every single candle in the room burst open with a flame as it was meant to be but no one had lit any match to do so. I look around and the perpetrator Jeffrey smiling sheepishly. “Sorry force of habit” he said and I remembered that he was fae and could use the element fire. So unfair, I always wanted to do that. “Doesn’t matter now sit in a circle” Amy ordered. We all nodded and started to position ourselves in a circle on the floor. I sat next to Amy who immediately grabbed my hand. I felt a heated present that sat on my left side and knew exactly who it was. I turned to face Alex who already held out his hand. It was just like the time at Aureoles house. Without hesitation this time I slipped my hand into Alex’s and then I brace myself for the shooting electricity. My breath came a little quicker than usual so when he looks at me in my eyes. They were so determined that I had to look away immediately because I couldn’t take the way his black eyes took me in. On the other side of Alex was Brain and between Brain and Amy was Jeffrey.
