Five

Amelia woke up to the insistent ringing of her phone. “Hallo.” She said groggily

“Amy can I come and pick you up in let’s say 30minutes, my parents are flying to Paris and they would like to meet you before they go. Truth is I would like them to meet you before they go, they think I’m too impulsive and they would have Antonio baby sit me. If he did we’d both be miserable. So if they meet you and see that you are sensible and have agreed to help me it would put their minds at rest. Amy are you listening?” It was none other than Belinda.

“What time is it?” Amy asked still half asleep, she had only just slept. After she had come from her late lunch with Belinda she had decided to do a bit more research on Belinda apart from the things she had said about herself. She wanted to know what the media said about her how the world perceived her and what impression she gave the world. After being satisfied she knew enough about her she started on the designs. She had gotten carried away and had only slept in the wee hours of the morning. Her designs were far from done and she saw the advantage of helping Belinda out with her wedding planning. The more time they would spend together planning her wedding the more she would get to know her and the more she would be able to improve on the designs.

“It’s six and better get up and get ready I’m already on my way,”

“Ohhhh….”

“Sorry I’m a morning person and I can see you are not,” Belinda didn’t sound sorry in the least.

“Maybe if you just put down the phone, you would give me a chance to wake up.” With that Amy ended the call and languished in bed for a few more minutes enjoying its softness. Amy was one person who had difficulty waking up she enjoyed her sleep and if she didn’t have an alarm she probably would have been late everyday of her life. Having Belinda as her friend was going to be like being hit by a tornado.

The doorbell rang just as she stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her body she went to open it thinking it was Belinda and it was but she wasn’t alone. “Oh…,” she managed to say clutching her towel tightly as if her life depended on it. She had tied off her towel just above her breast but it was too short so it ended just below her butt. The whole length of her thighs and legs was in plain sight and Amy was not comfortable with the way this man was looking at her admiringly.

“Belinda you did not tell me you were not alone.” Amy chided giving Belinda an angry look which the other girl did not seem to notice, she was already inside openly staring at the room.

“Wow this is amazing, it’s so beautiful in here, I think I’ve fallen in love with this green, I want it for my wedding now. Amy you really have an eye for colour, I’ve never seen a home look so beautiful with only so few colours. Do you think you can help me decorate the house Richard has bought for us?  We have to do it before the wedding cause will move in just after the honeymoon, oh Amy I love……”

“Belinda please give her a chance to go get dressed she will do herself harm if she continues clutching that towel so tightly?” the man who had not been introduced yet broke into Belinda’s tirade and ventured a step into the house. He had been easily lounging at the door since no one had invited him in.

“You might as well come in too,” Amy said waiting for him to step in, and then she closed the door behind him with a thud. A tornado for sure she thought, “If you will excuse me I need to get dressed before I harm myself.” Amy said drily and moved toward her bedroom hoping  her butt was not showing.

“She’s adorable isn’t she I told you, you would like her and she’s lovely too…” Amy heard Belinda say to the man as she closed her bedroom door and proceeded to change. Belinda should at least have told her she was bringing someone with her, she was sure the man must be her fiancé and she was mortified at the way he had looked at her. The man was handsome for sure and they looked good together. He was dark were Belinda was light and she had thought Belinda tall but this man towered above her, and Amelia was a bit shorter than Belinda. Broad shoulders, a well-trimmed body, judging from the white shirt and black slacks he had on.  He was truly a woman’s dreams come true. Belinda was a very lucky woman, no wonder she wanted to look her best for the wedding. This was the kind of man a woman would brave even the pain of plastic surgery for. Not that she would even consider plastic surgery but she did wish she looked more beautiful. Above all she wished… stop it Amelia she scolded herself, how you can think such thoughts about your new best friend’s fiancé.
