After several hours of flying, the MFE's finally got to Arus. I didn't notice, I had been crying for about three hours straight. At least I think it was three hours, you can never really tell in quiznacking space, because hey, space is like that. Get used to it.
The MFE's landed on the planet's beautiful, colored surface. I didn't notice that either.
My friends came out of the other MFE's and joined me.
"What now?" Shay asked.
"Does anyone else feel that?" Kendall said quietly.
"Huh?" Said Alyssa.
"Some sort of energy," my best friend answered, "Like it's-"
"A tether or rope," I finished, "Pulling you...." I closed my eyes and focused. Then I opened them and pointed towards the mountain in the distance. "That way."
"I feel it," Karter added.
"Me too." Shay stepped toward the mountain.
Alyssa agreed, "Me three."
"What are we waiting for," Kendall started walking, "Let's find out what it is."
My friends and I trekked across the green hills to the mountain. When we finally got to the base of the mountain, the first thing I noticed were six, thirty-foot tall doors in the face of the gray rock.
I walked up to the third from the left one, cause that's where the energy was pulling me, and put my hand on the door. "This can't be normal."
The door glowed dark purple and opened. I jumped back with a yell, "WHAT THE QUIZNACK-THAT DEFINITELY IS NOT NORMAL!!!"
I looked over at my friends. They were each standing in front of a door, their's glowing too each a different color. Shay's door yellow, Karter's red, Alyssa's blue, Max's green, and Kendall's door glowing a dark turquoise. They looked just as shocked as me.
My door opened. I thought, What the heck-screw it-I've got nothin' to lose, and walked through with Thor right behind me.
What I saw inside made my head spin. On the other side of that door, there stood a huge black, mechanical lion.
No, I am dead serious, a huge, black war machine, in the shape of a lion. In front of it, there were two display cases. The bigger one had-
Wait.......
No. Quiznacking. Way.
It was the weird armor that my parents had been wearing in the photos on their dresser. Black accents just like my dad's, and- Wait a minute. Was that in my size!?!?!
What the quiznack was this!?!?!"
I felt the weird energy pulling me again, and I approached the Lion. There was a purple force field around the Lion, but as I stepped up, it disappeared.
I took another step, and the Lion came to life. Thor barked, and held out a hand to signal that he had to be quiet. As if this day could get any more ridiculously insane.
The lion bent down and opened its mouth.
I looked at it. "Ya want me to go in there?!?!"
The lion didn't move.
I stepped back. "I ain't goin' in there! I'm not stupid."
The lion let out a low, rumbling growl.
I shook my head.
The lion growled louder, and I felt Thor nudge the back of my leg with his head.
"How do I know you won't eat me?"
The lion roared this time. Blowing my hair back and nearly knocking me off my feet.
"Ok, fine!" I yelled, exasperated, "I'll get in." I pointed a finger at it. "But don't betray my trust."
I cautiously walked up the ramp in the Black Lion's mouth and found myself in, what I guessed was the cargo hold. I turned and saw huge doors behind me. I went through the doors to the cockpit, which weirdly except not really because it actually made perfect sense, inside the lions head.
I sat down in the pilot's seat and it instantly shot forward, almost throwing me out. "Hey watch it!" I yelled as purple screens appeared in front of my face. I could see everything from diagnostics of Black, what the weather was outside, a map of where I was, battle tactic statistics, and just about anything else you would imagine useful.
"Hold on," I told Black, "I'm gonna duck out to grab the armor and whatever that weird H-shaped thing is."
I ordered Thor to stay and raced out, then grabbed the two things out of their display cases. When I was in the cockpit of the lion, I thought I might as well change into the armor and make sure it fit. As it turned out, the armor stretched and shrank in all the right places and molded to fit my body so I had no need for worry.
I walked inside the cockpit and took out the H-shaped thing. I glowed and turned purple, then morphed into a double-ended sword, which I actually discovered split in the middle and became two katanas. OK, that's good. I knew katanas, I used katanas all the time.
I turned the katanas back to the H-shaped thing and sat down in the pilot's seat again. This time the seat moving forward didn't throw me. The controls came up, and I recognized them. They were very similar to the ones the simulators our parents had us practice piloting in.
I thought about the armor, the H-shaped thing, this big a** lion, and couldn't help but say out loud to myself, "You know Dad and Mom, I really wanted an MFE for my birthday, not a quiznacking warmachine in the shape of a lion."
Black growled in annoyance, clearly offended.
"Oh," I muttered awkwardly, "Sorry. I didn't mean that. It's just, well, I really miss my parents......" I trailed off, then added hastily, "You're pretty awesome though, don't get me wrong." I sighed and leaned back. "I just.....have never had anything like this happen to me before. Uh, do you- um- Has anyone else flown you before?"
I gasped as a million memories flashed before my eyes, all just little moments, no more than a few seconds long. And none of them were mine.
I saw a Galra with dark skin, wearing the same armor I was, sitting in the same pilot seat. His H-shaped thing turned into a large broadsword, and he fought with big motions, swinging his huge blade. I saw him laughing with other aliens in the same armor, but with different colored accents. I saw him save an Altean in red-accented armor that looked a lot like Aunt Allura. Then it changed to someone else, and- well..... -let's just say I choked and would've spit out my water if I had been drinking any.
