(One year before Sky turns 15)

The small ship we sat in shot for the group of stars circling each other I could see in the distance through the window. Dad flipped a few switches, and Mom turned in her chair to check on all of us.

"Everyone holdin' on back there?" she asked.

There were various replies of "Yes," or  "We're fine".

Uncle Lance sighed with happiness and leaned back in his chair. "Gosh, I can't believe we're going back to Earth after all this time. And after so long too! It's been what- Twenty years since we were here last?"

"More like sixteen, Lance," Aunt Katie corrected, "It was a little under a year before Sky was born."

"Hey, guys," said Uncle Hunk, "What time of year do think it is on Earth? Summer? Halloween?"

"Actually," said Dad over his seat, "According to the transmissions we've been getting from them, it's probably about time for the holidays down there."

My Aunts and Uncles cheered at the sound of that, they obviously very excited to be going back to their home planet during December. But no one was as excited as me and my friends, this would be, after all, our first time on Earth.

Our parents couldn't take us to Earth before this time because until we turned 14/13, our little bodies couldn't handle the sudden change in going from zero gravity or arificial gravity to the real thing on Earth, where it was much stronger than what we had grown up with.

Even though we weren't raised on Earth, we did however, know what Christmas was, and celebrated it in our little flats with our families on the Atlas.

Mom plugged in her IPod, and a song I didn't recognize started blasting through the ships speakers.

"Guys, shut up shut up!" Shouted Uncle Lance, "It's Let It Snow!"

The adults cheered and started singing along, belting out the words like no one was watching. My friends and I laughed before joining in with our parents.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful,

And since we've no place to go-o

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Oh, it doesn't show signs of stopping,

And I brought some corn for poppin'

The lights are turned way down low-ow

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

When the song finished, everyone was laughing at how bad everyone's voices were.

I looked out the window, and saw a planet that was mostly blue with patches of green and white clouds swirling around it.

Mom tapped a few things, flipped a switch, and smiled. "Well kids! Here we are! Earth."

Everyone cheered as they sat down and strapped ourselves in the seats. The ship began it's decent, and I felt something pulling us downward, like the Atlas's artificial gravity, but stronger and firmer.

A few minutes later, the ship landed on a light brown streach of flat rock. Dad said it was called a "landing strip". Some people came out of a building made out of more of that rock stuff.

"Welcome back Captain Shirogane," one of them came up and shook my Dad's hand.

The other went over to my Mom. "Welcome back to Earth Co-Captain Carson."
