Her Silence

It has been an hour, fifty seven minutes, and three seconds since Mark was sent in the principal's office. She hasn't been asked to come in yet and that is really scaring her. Jonah was also in there. And here she was, sat on that same bench.

"9, 10, 11, 12..." She was fidgeting her manicured fingernails. "13, 14, 15." Her tears were almost ready to come out until she heard the deafening roar of the sirens, the blue and red lights flashed. Her head snapped towards the window that gave her view of the front entrance. There were six cops busting through the door.

Suddenly, everything went in slow motion yet it seemed as though it was all happening in a flash. The cops walked right past her and in right in the principal’s office. Mark's hands were already behind his back while the principal stood by his desk. Jonah was sitting on the chair across the desk, watching as Madison's tears burst into streams.

"Mark Traineer, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney present during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you. Do you understand these rights?" The steel links cuffed behind him.

'Mark, do something!' she screamed in her head. Why is he not doing anything about this? Why is he not fighting them! He just followed the police as they escorted him out.

"Mark!" She screamed. He paused, like how they would in movies and look back at Madison. He gave off coy smile and continued to walk again.
