"Well, I don't know how to say this without freaking you two out," the woman started, a hesitant look on her face.

"We're kinda dead," the man finished with an awkward chuckle. I stared at them, my mind doing a double take, then a triple take. "Wait, what? Ghosts in our attic? Cool!" I blurted out, ignoring Sam's attempt to hold me back.

"Hi, ghost pals, I'm Y/n," I said, walking up to them while Sam rolled his eyes. "And this is my twin, Sam."

"It's a Pleasure to meet you, Y/n and Sam! I'm Adam, and this is my wife, Barbara," Adam said with a friendly smile.

"Wait a sec, like Adam and Barbara Maitland?" Sam questioned, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"Yep, that's us. How do you know us? And why do you look familiar?" Barbara asked, pointing at me.

"Our parents used to tell us stories about you guys," Sam explained. "Wait, who are your parents?" Adam asked excitedly.

"Carter and Lydia Jackson," Sam and I said simultaneously, plopping on the floor.

"What was your mom's name before she got married?" Barbara inquired. "Deetz, why?" I asked.

"Lydia used to live here; we were like family to her," Adam revealed, a nostalgic smile gracing his face.

"OMG, YOU'RE THE BARBARA AND ADAM MAITLAND!" I exclaimed, barely able to contain my excitement.

"Yeah, why does that sound like a good thing?" Sam asked, puzzled.

"Because Mom's stories about you were legendary, remember?" I reminded him.

"Y/N, Sam, pizza's here! Come eat!" Mom's voice echoed from downstairs.

"Wow, Lydia still sounds the same," Adam chuckled. We headed downstairs, set up a movie, and Mom fixed us some drinks. We watched Halloween II, and Sam nearly jumped out of his skin at one point.

(Next day)

I woke up feeling like death warmed over. "Mom!" I croaked, stumbling downstairs. "Spider, it's 4:30 in the morning. What's wrong?" Mom asked, concerned.

"I feel terrible, like a fever dream," I groaned.

"Let's check your temp in the kitchen," Mom suggested.

After checking, Mom declared, "102. Looks like you're staying home from school today."

"But, Mom, it's my first day, and you won't be here," I protested.

"I know, but you can't go. I'll try to get off early, okay?" Mom reassured me.

"Okay, maybe we could watch Hocus Pocus if you do!" I suggested eagerly.

Mom smiled, tucking me back in before leaving. Later, Mom and Sam popped in to say goodbye. "We'll see you later, Spider," Mom hugged me.

"Bye, N/N," Sam added, quickly hugging me.

Once they left, I was left alone, feeling bored. I decided to listen to music and draw. But then there was a knock on the door.

"Hi, Y/n, how're you feeling?" Adam asked as he and Barbara entered.

"Okay, just a bit bored," I admitted.

"Well, if you need anything, we're upstairs. We can't leave the house, but we can keep you company," Barbara offered kindly.

I smiled gratefully as they left. But then I heard a gruff voice say, "Man, they're so boring."
