19. The Perfect Day

The next morning, I woke up feeling like a princess. Next to having an amazing night, I woke up with a smile. That's all I could think about.

I walked downstairs to an amazing smell. It almost felt like home but ten times better. I looked down in the kitchen to see Hayes's mom cooking. On the island was a platter of bacon, cheesy eggs, chocolate chip pancakes, strawberries with whipped cream, and oh so much. My mouth started to water just stating at it.

"You can walk down there, you know.." A voice taps me on the shoulder. I turn around, terrified, only to see Hayes and his raspy morning voice. I hadn't even realized that I was just standing there.

"Oh, I know, haha." I laugh nervously. We walk down into the kitchen, Hayes in front.

"Oh hey guys!" His mom greets us. I smile at her. "Go ahead and eat, food's ready."

"Smells greeeeeat, mom." Hayes says, inhaling the amazing scent.

"I agree," I tell her.

"Well thanks," She smiles. Hayes and I sit down as the rest of the guys come down.

"Good morning family!" Nash says.

"Good Morning family!" Jack mocks.

"Shut up or you get no pancakes," Nash jokes. Jack zips his lips.

"Good morning guys," Mrs. Grier says. Skylynn walks in, horses in hand and rubbing her eyes.

"I want pancakes." Skylynn whines.

"Oh honey you can have all the pancakes you want," Mrs. Grier smiles.

Skylynn shoves Hayes over and sits between the two of us. I smile at him and put my arm around Skylynn. I mouth "I like her better" to him. He looks at me, shakes his head, and laughs.

After breakfast, Hayes took me out to see the neighborhood. It was a nice little place they lived in, friendly people, backwoods type of area...It was an ideal place I'd want to live in.

"Your neighborhood is beautiful," I say, looking up into the sky.

"Just like you," He says, without making eye contact with me. I smile at him again. Boy, could this kid make me smile like an idiot.

I look at the sky again. It was a shade of gray, as if it were to rain. It wasn't hard to tell that it would. Small little raindrops began to fall from the sky. One had landed on my nose, almost like a snowflake.

"Hey!" Hayes says.

"What?" I smile.

"You wanna ride the ATVs?" His smile reaches from ear to ear.

"But Hayes," I look up at the sky and listen to the thunder. "It's gonna-" Before I could even finish, Hayes was already running towards his garage. "Rain."

"That's the point!" He yells as he continues to run towards the garage. The rain speed picks up and it's no longer drizzle but thick, heavy rainfall. I laugh and run towards Hayes.

Once we got the ATV out, Hayes got on and I stood by and watched. He waved me to come on with him but I denied it. I mean, it's raining and I'm scared to ride on a ATV on a wet road.

"You're not scared, are you? You can trust me." He smiles. All the guys were already riding around the street, laughing it up and being soaked. "C'mon! It'll be fun!"

"Fine," I say, unfolding my arms and jogging to him.

I get on the back and hold onto his waist. He was warm and it suddenly made me feel comfortable. It almost felt like it wasn't even raining anymore.

"Ready?" Hayes says through the pouring rain.

"Yeah!" I yell. We start driving, fast and I let out a small scream of excitement.

Soon, as we were already full speed, I had a sudden urge of bravery. I let go of Hayes's waist, causing a shock out of him. He looks back at me, curious.

"What? Not afraid anymore?" He jokes.

"Never was..." I shout. I smile as my arms fall back. Then I want to do even more...

I set my arms by my sides, clenching the seat. I bite my lip, thinking of all the bad things that could happen if I tried to do this. I push the thought aside and try to push myself up as Hayes speeds even faster, racing Jack.

I slowly stand up, balancing on Hayes's shoulders. As I'm up, I felt like a goddess. The adrenaline was kicking in, my body was pulsing and I felt rebellious. I felt like I was on top of the world, alongside the best guy ever and my big brother. I felt...amazing.

The rain dripped down my neck and face. I close my eyes and raise my arms up. I could hear Jack and Hayes cheering or just simply being happy. I look down to see Hayes smiling.

"You're beautiful," He mouths.

"You are too," I laugh.

"Look at my brave little sister!" Jack yells from afar. I couldn't help but laugh.

It was convenient. I'm not brave. I'm not even beautiful. So many people thought of me in their own perspective but I could never truly think of myself in a positive way. I see so many negative things when I look in the mirror but I never see the good in me. Until now...

I felt like royalty. I had great friends, I had an awesome brother, and of course, the best boyfriend a girl could dream of. For once, I felt good about myself...

After we all showered, we gathered in the living room for a movie night. S'mores, ice cream, candy, 3 different types of popcorn, soda, and some fruit were scattered on the coffee table.

Johnson put in "Insidious" in the DVD player then sat down next to Jack. Skylynn had fell asleep before the movie had even started so Nash carried her to bed. Mrs. Grier was also heading to bed as we all got comfortable.

Throughout the movie, we all chomped on some snacks as the tension built up. In an honest way, I wasn't scared of the movie, I love scary movies, but I'll admit, this moment made me jump. Hayes looks at me and laughs. I smile and shake off the scare.

After our movie night, the guys went out somewhere and I stayed at home and prepared for bed. I went up to my room and shuffled into bed. I let out a sigh and stared at the ceiling. Then I began to laugh. I couldn't stop laughing. Today, everything we did, beginning to end, was just amazing.

I turned over and looked out the window. The rain had finally settled and the moon had rose. My eyes were feeling like rocks, everything in my body has been telling me to go to sleep but I couldn't, not possibly on this day. It was almost time for us to leave and I didn't want to fall asleep cause that would mean the day is over.

I'm finally gave in and shut my eyes. It was another good day spent with good people...
