Red

Mine!!! She's actually mine! My cute little mate.

After claiming her mind, body and soul time and time again for hours, my little princess fell asleep. But even then, I couldn't stop myself from touching and kissing her.

My favorite place to nuzzle my face into is her stomach. I will put a baby there one day. That's for sure.

I rub my nose over the soft skin on her neck, keeping my arms wrapped around her midriff, cradling her small body to mine before putting my head on her chest, just listening to her steady heartbeat.

"What are you doing?" My little mate asks, her voice slightly raspy from sleep.

"I'm cherishing my little mate."

"Red?"

"Yeah. – I kiss the mark on her neck – Why are you awake, my love?" I question, since she only slept for few hours, and I know she's really tired.

"I felt someone tickling me with their hair." She replies, her tone teasing.

"I'm sorry, little one. I didn't mean to wake you up."

"It's okay. – she starts rubbing my scalp with her slender fingers – I have to get used to being awake during the day, anyway."

"No, you don't. Until your eyes and skin get used to sunlight, we'll be functioning during the night. I don't mind having you all for myself while everyone else is sleeping." I hear my voice turn hoarse. There is so much we can do without anyone watching or interrupting us. I know my little Skye is still uncomfortable around the pack and neither I nor Hunter want to overwhelm her.

"But how will it get used to all that when I don't walk around during the day?" I can hear the pure confusion in her tone.

"It takes time, my love. – I raise my head off her chest, and move farther up the bed, pulling my little mate onto my chest. A small yelp escapes her at the sudden move, making me chuckle. – See? You stayed too long in the sun yesterday and your skin is already slightly red." I caress her shoulders with my fingers. Thankfully she had a hat on when she went outside yesterday.

Skye glances at her shoulder with a frown before turning her gaze back to me. "I didn't even realize." She quietly murmurs, sounding embarrassed.

"It's okay, my love. I'll remind Hunter to put sunscreen on you when you go out again. But that won't happen for a while." I lean up and leave a kiss on her plump lips.

"You are so... different."

"Different? How?" I'm slightly confused.

"No one has ever cared about me like this. But I like it, it feels really nice."

"I sure hope you like it, seeing as you're mine for eternity now."

"OH GOD YOU'RE RIGHT!!! – I laugh at her cuteness. – Can I use the mind link now???" She looks excited.

"You can. Imagine your mind is surrounded by a dome with doors, for now, only one, since you're not a part of the pack yet, then open that door and speak to me."

Skye gets this cute concentrated look on her face and closes her eyes.

'I love you.'

"I love you, too, little mate.'

"It worked!!!" She sits up, straddling my stomach and clapping her hands excitedly. "Again! Again!"

'We can talk like this as often as you want, my love. Thanks to this, we'll be able to talk even while I'm in my true form.' I tell her.
