I watch with wide eyes as the guys fight mercilessly, exchanging countless hits one after another.

This is exactly why I was against this whole idea. It's so... brutal.

"Do you want to go rest?" Hunter quietly asks when I wince again.

"No, I'll watch it till the end. I'm supposed to be the Luna of this pack, I should know how to handle stuff like this." I reply, just as quietly.

Once dad announces the winner, stopping the guys from hurting each other more, the fighting boys go back to their place with the other recruits. It looks like dad intends to accept them all into the pack, considering the satisfied look on his face. I heard that the new members actually came from a small pack that was destroyed by a rogue attack. After the attack, the ranked wolves that remained alive decided to ask for other packs' help, requesting for them to accept the survivors. Dad didn't even hesitate before accepting the desperate plead, making me proud. He's such a considerate Alpha, not at all like his brother.

"OKAY! That's all for now. Thank you all. Now, for the most important event. I know some of you are still unsure about my daughter's mate's capability to be an Alpha. Since he's not from our pack, by our law, he has to fight for his position here just like everyone else. – I glare at dad, getting a cheeky grin in response before he turns back to the pack – Since he's aspiring for the Alpha position and deems himself worthy of being with my precious daughter, he'll be fighting against me. Any objections? Skylar, don't even try." Dad finishes sternly when he sees my furious expression.

"I'll be fine. Have some faith in me." Hunter smiles, giving me a deep kiss. He takes off his shirt, putting it on me, then walks into the ring, getting many looks from the pack members surrounding the small clearing. Most of them don't bother me, since they're purely curious, but I catch quite a few lustful gazes directed his way, mostly from the younger she-wolves. They better not think he's up for grabs.

Hunter's mine, end of story.

"Ready?" Dad smirks, shedding his shirt too and getting in a stance. I know nothing of his fighting skills apart from what I saw during the training with Luna Angel, so I don't know how useful his skills would be against a hybrid like my mate. It's not that I'm afraid he would beat Hunter, or Hunter would beat him... I just don't want to watch my loved ones fight against each other.

"Whenever you are." Hunter smirks back at my dad; his voice pulling me back to reality.

Dad and Hunter get closer to each other, connecting their fists before sending the first punches. I close my eyes momentarily at the sight of them before opening them again, not wanting to miss anything. Hunter grabs my dad's shoulder and pushes him away, throwing him to the ground. Dad doesn't back down and snarls at my mate, getting a loud growl in response. They keep punching, kicking and clawing at each other and I stare at them with wide eyes and my heart in my throat. I feel like I'm going to be sick. They are so brutal, so mad, so vicious!

I silently pray to the Moon Goddess to not let them get hurt too much then gasp in shock when both men suddenly shift into their wolves. The red eyes indicate that Red is in control. I turn to dad's grey wolf, only to see him prowl slowly back and forth in front of Red, snarling at him menacingly. Dad's wolf is slightly smaller than Red, but it doesn't take anything from his dominance. His mere presence demands respect.

But Red doesn't seem to be intimidated by dad. He calmly stares at him, not at all bothered by his surroundings.

And then he looks at me. He ignores my dad and the fight, walking up to me and nuzzling his nose into the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply.

"I won't hurt him too much, my little mate. Don't worry." Red mind links me, licking my face playfully. I grin at him, kissing his maw and petting his huge head.

"Thank you." I quietly tell him, sending him back to my dad, feeling reassured by Red's words. He's always told me he hates seeing me upset, so he would never do something that would hurt me.

I watch as Red and dad circle around the clearing, waiting for each other to attack.

Then Red pounces.

Dad stands no chance against my mate. Red has him pinned down in seconds, biting warningly onto the back of dad's neck, demanding submission. Dad struggles for a while, but gives up in the end, realizing he can't win.

I sigh in relief seeing that they're not badly hurt and their injuries are already healing before walking into the clearing and gently placing my hand in Red's fur, getting his attention. I didn't miss the startled gasps around me when I walked up to the two wolves, but I don't feel even an ounce of fear. I know Red would never hurt me and neither would my dad. He wouldn't look for me for so many years if he didn't love me.

Red releases my dad's neck as soon as my hand touches him then gently bites onto the shirt I'm wearing, pulling me under his head. I get his wish and snuggle into his fur, gripping onto it with all my might.

Dad gets up and I let go of Red for a moment to give him a hug. Dad doesn't resist, nuzzling his head against mine.

"Get them something to change into!" Adam orders, making two younger guys immediately run to our house. They come back with two pairs of jeans, handing them to Adam and me. Dad leaves with Adam, while I lead Red away so he can shift.

"Thank you, love." Hunter gives me a kiss once he's shifted before taking my hand and walking back to the rest of the pack, where we find my dad standing on the podium, facing everyone. He beckons at us to join him, so we head straight there.

"You have all witnessed the power that surges through Hunter's blood, you all saw that he's capable of protecting the pack, you all saw that even I stood no chance against him. I have told you all about my intentions, so you know what's about to happen. – dad announces then turns to me and Hunter with a determined look – I hereby denounce my title as Alpha and pass it onto Hunter Kingston, my daughter's mate. This means my daughter, Skylar Annelise Davis is the rightful Luna of this pack as of now." Dad takes my hand and makes a small cut on the inside of it before connecting it with his, mixing our blood. I immediately feel the pack's link connect with me and it almost makes my knees buckle underneath me. It's so overwhelming to feel everyone at once.

After dad's done with me, Adam hands him another knife to repeat the process with Hunter, who doesn't seem to be bothered as much as me. Thank Goddess he taught me how to block off my mind, so once everyone greets me through the mind link I can block it all out.

My lovely mate notices my struggle and wraps his arms around me, pulling me into his side, placing a kiss on the top of my head.

"Everyone, meet your new Alpha and Luna!" Dad roars, making the crowd cheer loudly.

And I panic.

"Quiet!" I hiss, raising my hand to get everyone's attention. "You'll wake the babies!" As if someone cast a magic spell on the pack, their cheers quiet down to low murmurs.

"Sorry Luna." They bow down. Hunter only chuckles when he sees my shocked expression, but dad doesn't even bother to be quiet, laughing loudly.

"Dad!" I seethe.

"Too late. They're awake already." Hunter chortles, glancing in the direction of our house. I sigh tiredly, shaking my head.

"It's your fault." I point at dad angrily then walk away, not missing the laughter of the pack members.

Looks like they find my anger funny.

But putting our two monsters to sleep after they wake up is not funny. At all.

We go straight to the nursery, only to find someone holding my little prince, rocking him gently. I feel pure fury spreading through me at the sight, growling loudly.

"WHO ARE YOU?!"
