Iwaizumi's POV

About a week has passed and everything went back to normal. [L/N] would come home late today, but I had only a lecture in the morning. After that, I went to the city to get everything for dinner. [L/N] asked for Ramen, so I had to get the noodles, green onions and new soy sauce, since wer'were running out of that. To my misfortune, the supermarket rearranged their shelves and their goods. I spent too much time looking for everything, but in the end, I just couldn't find the soy sauce. "Where is this damn thing?", I mumbled to myself as I checked the shelves for a third time. "Iwaizumi? What are you doing" I turned around to the source of a familiar voice. Hanamaki stood in front of me. I looked at him in full distress. "Looking for soy sauce." Hanamaki let out a giggle and motioned me to follow him. "I'll show you", he said and led me to the shelf where I finally got the damn sauce. "How did you know to find it here in this small corner?", I asked while putting the soy sauce in the shopping basket. Hanamaki grinned. "I work here. " I raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything further. Instead, I went to the checkout, followed by Hanamaki.
"Don't you have work to do?"
"Nah, my shift ended."
While paying, the cashier literally begged me to take Hanamaki with me. So, I invited him over for a bit. After all, it's been some time since we had our last proper conversation.

"Wow, your appartement is actually clean!"
"Well, Oikawa was the one who always created a chaos in here."
I went to the kitchen area to put the groceries away. Hanamaki followed me and leaned against the kitchen counter, watching my actions. "You want something to drink?", I asked as I closed the fridge. "A glass of water will do." I nodded and poured water in two glasses. I gave one to Hanamaki. I drank my glass in one gulp and set my glass down. Hanamaki was rotating his glass, watching the water swirling in a circle. "Did you hear anything from him? Oikawa I mean." I sighed.
"Not recently. He must be enjoying himself." Hanamaki laughed. "I mean, all the girls there must be running crazy about him. Not only handsome, but also athletic and foreign."
"And stupid."
Hanamaki looked at me with a grin. "You haven't changed at all. Not even when the thing with Oikawa happened, huh?" I looked to the ground. My lips formed a slight smile. "He didn't have to leave. But..." There was no "But". There was no reason for Oikawa to leave. He could've stayed, everything would've been the same, nothing would've changed.
"But would you have met that girlfriend of yours if he stayed?"
I looked at Hanamaki with wide opened eyes. "[L/N]... She..."
"Is not my girlfriend, is what you're supposed to say now, right? Or, don't tell me the two of you are-"
I punched Hanamaki on his arm, before he could even finish his sentence. "No seriously, what's going on between you two?" I gave Hanamaki a confused look. "We're just roommates who happen to get along well." Hanamaki raised an eyebrow. Amsusement was written all over his face. I tried to resist his gaze that was asking for something more, for something that really was going on. I took a moment to review recent incidents. The summer festival was by far the most odd.
"Hey, Hanamaki... How do you know you're in love?"
"When you ask stupid questions like this."
I punched him again and Hanamaki reacted with laughing. I knew this question was stupid, embarassing not to mention. I just wondered if what I felt towards [L/N] really was... love. "Maybe I think so, because I never spent so much time with a girl before", I mumbled.
"What's so wrong about it? Isn't it reason enough to fall in love? I haven't had a girlfriend in a long time, so I'm not one to talk. You could ask Oikawa about it. Isn't he more experienced with girls?" I had to laugh. No, he wasn't. Oikawa was popular with women, but his relationships didn't last long. There was no way I would ask him about relationship advices.  It would only end in disaster. Hanamaki and me were silent for a moment. "Ask her out. Have courage. I'm sure she feels the same."
What do you mean?"
Hanamaki put his now empty glass down. "The others and me were at the summer festival too, remember? We saw you." I wanted to ask what exactly he meant and what exactly he saw, but the sound of keys unlocking the door interrupted me. I totally forgot about the time "I'm back!" [L/N] entered the living room/kitchen area with a smile on her face. Her smile quickly turned into surprise when she saw Hanamaki standing next to me. "O-Oh, this is Hanamaki. You've seen him before."
Hanamaki raised a hand with a "Yo". [L/N] giggled in response and introduced herself too. "So, are ou staying for dinner?"
"Ye-"
"No, he won't."
Hanamaki pouted and [L/N] smiled. I opened the fridge and took out everything we needed for dinner. "Iwaizumi, you're mean! Do you treat all of your guests like this? What's so bad about letting me stay for dinner?"
"Yeah, why not?"
Both, Hanamaki and me looked surprised at [L/N]. I even almost dropped the eggs. "[L/N]... Do you really mean it?" [L/N] nodded. She seemed serious about this. I sighed and started cutting vegetables. "If that's the case, you better help me getting dinner ready. Earn your meal."
Hanamaki complained, but helped me in the end. [L/N] laughed and excused herself for a bath.
Dinner tonight was livelier than before. Hanamaki pierced [L/N] with questions and told her stories from High School. [L/N] listened to him with great curiosity and I watched her, thinking about Hanamaki's words from before. I enjoyed watching those two until my phone vibrated. I took it out from the pocket of my jeans and looked at the screen. It was Oikawa.
