Reader's POV

Work, work and even more work. University became rough since exams were coming up. I found myself studying more than usual again. It was not only University that was rough, my work in the café got busier as well. Many costumers were students who tried to study here. I didn't mind them trying to pass their exams, but couldn't they do it at home?
I just served two costumers, obviously on a studying-date and went back to our small kitchen. Sami was waiting for me with a wide grin on her face.
"Wouldn't that be something for you and your guy? Just the two of you. Studying intensely. He tries to explain something and leans in so close to your ear that you feel his hot breath. Then he whispers: "You know what else I want to study?"
"Oh, Sami! Cut it off!" I threw a towel after my laughing friend, my face was deep red.
"First of all: We're studying different subjects. And besides, we just became... friends."
That was right. Iwaizumi and I were addressing us as friends now. We did all these things normal friends would do. We went out to eat or to the cinema or just to hang out. I even got to meet his friends from last time again. It was just for a short time though. Apparently they were former teammates from high school. I couldn't help but wonder what Iwaizumi was like in high school, when he played volleyball as the ace of his team. I wondered how he led his team to victory and how he felt about it. Or how he felt about a defeat. Oikawa must've been with him the whole time. How does Iwaizumi feel now, that his friend is so far away?
"[F/N], another costumer is waiting!"
"Right away!"
I was sure that Saya and me had extra hours incoming. Luckily, it wasn't as much as expected at first. Twenty minutes after the regular time, Saya and me were cleaning the café, while our chef did some paperwork. We were in the staff room, hanging up our aprons when we heard the bell at the door ringing."Oh no", Saya and me said at the same time. Annoyed, I went to the café to tell the costumer that we're closed, but instead I smiled. Iwaizumi stood in front of me, scratching the back of his neck.
"I had evening lectures and was hoping that you were still here... So that we could walk home together."
"Sure." I smiled at Iwaizumi. He came to get me several times before and it's always been such a kind gesture.
"Let me just-"
"Get your jacket and bag? Sure thing, here they are!"
Sami, who was probably watching the whe thing, handed me my stuff and shoved me and Iwaizumi out of the café. She waved us goodbye as we, very confused, made our way towards the train station. I still had things to do in the café, but I was used to Sami trying to play matchmaker.
As we walked, the sun was setting, coloring the sky in a deep red. To be honest, I was relieved that Iwaizumi was with me. I didn't like the dark much. But I liked the scenery and so did Iwaizumi. He looked at the horizon in awe. His whole body was radiating a tranquility which I've never seen on him before. His eyes were... Ah... he's dreaming again...
This time, I was dreaming too. I got lost in the look of his eyes which were sparkling in the sunlight. For a few minutes, we didn't say anything, but in the end, Iwaizumi broke the silence. "Oikawa and me had this view quite often. Because of practice."
"So you were going home together?"
I leaned a little closer to my roommate, signaling him that I'm ready for a conversation, but he just looked at me in shock. "Sorry. I think I just got a bit nostalgic in this atmosphere. Forget about it."
Iwaizumi turned away. It was not that he was mad. Rather, I could see his cheeks taking a light shape of red and it wasn't due to the sunlight.
I couldn't help but to smile bright. He said he was having nostalgic memories of someone clearly important to him, because he was here with me. "What are you smiling about?"
Iwaizumi scared me out of my thought. He looked at me in amusement. I must've made a weird face. Only the thought of it turned my face as red as the sun. "I-I'm just in a good mood, okay?" I pouted and looked away, but immediately glanced back to look at the male next to me. He was laughing. His look made me speechless. If that was the sunset behind him, then he must've been the sunrise.

Iwaizumi's POV

The faces [L/N] always made when she was lost in thoughts were so amusing. I couldn't help but to laugh. She was not like any other girls. At least not like the girls I got to know because of Oikawa. I appreciated her accompany and I hoped she felt the same. After Oikawa left, it became quiet and even a little lonely, but [L/N] sure brought some life into the appartement. "And I'm grateful for that."
"What did you say?"
I shook my head in response. "I was just thinking out loud."
I looked up to the clear red sky. "Come to think of it, [L/N]... Are you going somewhere for semester holidays? Like, home to your parents?"
[L/N] shook her head.
"You?"
"No."

Guess we will spend some time together then.
