1. The common rooms are to be kept clean.
2. No entering of someone else's room under any circumstances.
3. Self-bought food (such as yogurts or sweets) are to be marked with your name (otherwise it's free real estate c;)
4. One's duties are to be fulfilled.
5. A break of rules can lead to a raise in the rent for a month."So, these are the rules..."
After watching a tons movies, Iwaizumi and I barely slept. We had a nice breakfast, before sitting together and discussing the situation of sharing an appartement. I stared at the pitiful looking paper. It was clear that these rules were written by two different people. One of these handwritings looked rather chaotic. I could only guess it was Iwaizumi's handwriting, since rules one and three looked pretty clean and kind of girly.
"The duties are simple: Cleaning, taking out the trash, grocery shopping and cooking. Each of us has to take on two duties for two weeks. Afterwards we switch. Rule five only refers to the duties. I made these rules with my former roommate. He was a bit of a pain in the ass, so the second rule is rather strict. We can change it, so you can enter my room if necessary."
Iwaizumi took a pen and crossed out rule number two. Instead, he wrote Someone else's room is to be entered with permission and in emergency situations.
"I trust you know what an emergency situation is", Iwaizumi said.
I nodded.
"What was your former roommate like?"
Iwaizumi scratched the back of his neck. "We've known each other since elementary school, but he's rather... difficult to handle. He's annoying and dumb and super childish. Sometimes I wonder if he goes on a university or kindergarten. Also, wherever he goes, girls are following him. It's a real pain in the ass."
Iwaizumi sighed. "But..." His whole face became softer. "But he's well aware of his surroundings and a reliable person. When we played volleyball together, he knew how to motivate the team or how to bring out the best of a player. Despite his childish act, he's a genius, even though he wouldn't admit it."
Iwaizumi's soft voice startled me a bit. He seemed to think highly of his friend, but something was off. His eyes told me he was hiding something. But Iwaizumi didn't tell me, so I assumed it was something he needed time for. Besides... who would talk to complete strangers about their problems. That's right... I just moved in yesterday. We may had a bonding moment, but that was not enough to become actual friends.~Time skip~
"[F/N], is everything alright?"
"Oh... uh yeah...Sorry!"
I spaced out at work again and Sami called me back as usual. I told her I was just a little tired since I had two lectures in the morning and I didn't get much sleep the night before. "Looks like someone's enjoying her life in an appartement with a good-looking guy." Sami wiggled her eyebrows and I threw a towel after her. "It's not like that", I said. Both of us ended up laughing. The whole time during work, Sami sent me weird and funny looks whenever I served a costumer. She sure was a silly person, especially when it came to male persons.
"You should totally go for him", Sami said as we just entered the staff room after another successful day. I laughed and shook my head. "I barely know him."
"And you're living together?"
Again, both of us chuckled like school girls. We left the café, but before I could make my way home, Sami grabbed my wrist.
"Let's go out for dinner together and I'll tell you how to claim your man!"
I shook my head again pointed with my finger to her forehead. "You're kidding! Besides, I have to cook dinner and he's not "my man", silly!"
I waved my friend goodbye and went for my train station. Iwaizumi had evening lectures, so we would probably arrive by the same time.
My theory was proven right when I met Iwaizumi at the door to our appartment. He looked at me with only little surprise. Maybe he thought the same. Or maybe he was just not interested in this kind of stuff...
"Yo, I got everything for dinner", he said and held up a plastic bag filled with stuff.
"Oh, great! Thanks."
I smiled and entered the apartment, which Iwaizumi just unlocked. As soon as I got in, I put my stuff in my room and went back to the kitchen.
"Taking a shower."
Iwaizumi put the bag on the table and left. Being alone in the kitchen, I turned on some music and started to prepare dinner. A sudden phone ringing got me bck from my singing-while-cooking performance. I knew immediately that it wasn't my phone, since the ringtone was different. I looked for the source and found Iwaizumi's phone on the couch. He was still in the bathroom and I'm not sure if he would take the effort to quickly reach his phone, so I took it to look who was calling. Apparently it was someone called Oikawa Tooru. I couldn't say I wasn't curious to take the call and talk to this person, but it would've been rude. Instead, I laid the phone back on the couch and finished dinner. I finished dinner preparations earlier than Iwaizumi whatever he was doing in the bathroom. I took place at the table and checked my phone. I had a messagge from Sami.Enjoy your date ;)
IT'S NOT A DATE IF YOU LIVE TOGETHER!
I sighed. Sami knew how to tease me. I heard footsteps coming my direction and for som reason I hid my phone behind my back. Just in this moment, Iwaizumi entered the room. His confused look aside, he really got all of my attention. It was my first time seeing Iwaizumi shirtless. He only wore shorts too the knees. I completely ignored his question what I was doing and just analyzed his perfect body. Iwaizumi told me he used to do sports and now I could see what it did to him. His body was well defined woth muscles. I couldn't say I didn't want to touch his abs.
"Do you want me to take a shirt on? Is it uncomfortable for you?"
Iwaizumi's voice snapped me out of my fantasies. I immediately shook my head. I was unsure if that was the right answer, so I told him I was fine.
"Dinner's ready. Sit down."
I put my phone back into my jeans pocket while Iwaizumi sat down across from me. He looked at me as if he was trying to find out if I'm really fine. Dinner was just awkward small talk. I asked him how his day was and after he said it was good, he asked me about my day. None of us had something to tell, so we just ate our meals.
"It's good."
"Thanks."
To be honest, I was sick of these conversations. Did nothing change after last night? We can't just live our lifes as if we're complete strangers. We're roommates now!
"Tell me about your friend."
Iwaizumi, who was very concentrated in eating, looked at me like a deer that has suddenly spotted a human. He looked at me for a few seconds before going back to eat.
"I have a few."
I sighed and slightly threw my fork on the plate. "I mean your friend that used to live here. The one overseas! What were you doing together. You said you knew each other since kindergarten... How did you meet? What was school like? Tell me about the time when you played volleyball together-"
"He'snot here, so there'sno need to talk about him."
Iwaizumi didn't even look at me while talking. It was frustrating. How was I supposed to get closer to him when he didn't even talk?
"Did he ever watch a Godzilla movie with you? How did he cook? What kind of stuff were you talking about? What even is his name?"
"Why does it bother you so much? Do you want to meet him? Should I call him for you? Stop asking this stupid shit already and eat up."
I didn't intend to remain silent. I couldn't understand Iwaizumi at all. "I don't want to meet your friend, but I want to know who you are and how things were before I got here. Can't you just tell me?"
"No."
I sighed. I was sure that Iwaizumi was a kind person. Really. But he was deeply troubled with this whole situation. "I think he called earlier. Oikawa Tooru. Is that hi-"
I was interrupted by Iwaizumi slapping his hands on the table. "Thanks for the meal."
His voice was rather quiet for his loud action. He stood up and went into his room. I was left behind, not knowing what was suddenly going on.
Whatever was wrong with Iwaizumi, this Oikawa Tooru had something to do with it.
The next morning when I entered the kitchen/livingroom, Iwaizumi wasn't there. He left the apartment earlier than necessary. There was a paper on the table. It were the rules Iwaizumi showed me the day before. But something was different this time. Something new was written on it.6. Oikawa Tooru is not to be mentioned.
