I Love You, My Friend

I have always searched for a friend

Asked God for someone real

A friend who will remain

When everybody else leaves

I have always seen what I lack

But never asked myself once

Have I been a good friend to anyone?

Do I care like the friend I want to have?

Perhaps there were some

Who love me for real

But I was so busy seeking

Never noticing they exist

Now, I should stop this

My search was long over

I have Jesus here with me

He sent me lots of wonderful friends

My friend, I’m sorry

If I never cared enough

Sorry for my shortcomings

Sorry for making you feel insignificant

I love you

This time I mean it

It may not be enough for you

I respect if that’s what you feel

This may mean nothing

Just words from someone like me

But I’d say it anyway

I love you, my friend

Thank you for being real.
