Joseph woke up very early in the morning the next day and got ready to leave. He didn't want to wake Olivia up so instead he left a note.

Joseph looked at Olivia's sleeping form. She looked so beautiful and peaceful making Joseph regret his decision about leaving. He didn't feel like leaving anymore but had no choice, he made this decision for himself and so he has to fulfill his dreams. He stared at her for a while before placing a kiss on her head, she stirred a little but didn't wake up. Joseph was grateful for that because he didn't want to see her broken.

After grabbing his things he looked back at Olivia one last time before leaving the room to say goodbye to his parents and brother, who gave him a ride to the base.

Olivia woke up to a cold bed. She was surprised not to find Joseph in bed. She went into the bathroom hoping to find him there but he wasn't in the bathroom. Olivia didn't want to believe that he had already left.
When she went back to the room, she noticed a note on the nightstand that she hadn't seen before, so she sat down on the bed to read it.

It was a note from Joseph, saying how sorry he was for not waking her up to say goodbye. He claimed to have done it because he didn't want to see her cry. He had asked her to move into the house he had bought for them and told her to take good care of herself and not to worry too much about being alone because his parents and Jordan were all going to be there for her. Joseph also reminded her to not forget that he loved her and he assured her that he'd return to her so they would spend every day of their lives in each other's arms and have wonderful kids.

Olivia couldn't take it anymore, she couldn't go on reading about his promises because it only brought torture. She broke down in tears not believing that she was going to be all alone from now on. She had her parents, yes, but Joseph's love was different and irreplaceable. Olivia curled herself up on the bed, taking in Joseph's scent and wondering how long it was going to take before he came back.

Olivia went back to college to complete her final year. She got her degree and got a job as a secretary. She moved into her and Joseph's house like he had asked her to and also went to help Rachel and her mom out with chores whenever she was free.

Months had gone by since Olivia started working. She has tried coping with the fact that Joseph wasn't around by distracting herself with work, although she has been receiving letters from Joseph every month. Knowing that he was okay kept her hopeful. They Skyped at least once in a while which made her glad that she could behold his incredible face, the face she would love to wake up to for the rest of her life.

Olivia was walking home one day after visiting her parents. The clouds began to thicken making Olivia internally pray that it wouldn't start raining before she got home, but to her dismay, the rain suddenly started. She couldn't help but curse out loud.

"Shit!"

She increased her pace hoping to get home before she got drenched in the rain. A black car drove past her splashing water on her clothes.

"Seriously! This couldn't get any worse." she angrily muttered to herself, then she noticed the car reverse and stopped right beside her making her confused.

"Hey! Get in the car unless you want to get more wet than you already are."

'that voice'

Olivia instantly wished the Earth could bury her right now. She didn't need to add to her already ruined evening by encountering him.

"This can't be happening. Not today of all days!" she screamed in her head.

Olivia started to contemplate within herself if she should ignore him and continue walking or if she should take into consideration what her boyfriend told her.

Jordan honked the horn of his car, already impatient, this brought Olivia out of her thoughts. She was about to decline his offer when thunder crashed in the sky, which frightened her, and she immediately got into the car. She didn't want to look Jordan's way, so instead she began staring out the window while he started his car.
