His Love His Hate

Chapter 23

 

Olivia's eyes flickered to a sudden brightness, she closed them and opened them once again. After a while, her eyes adjusted to the light. She took in her present environment and realized that she was in the hospital, her mom was asleep on the couch in the room.

"Mom?" She tried calling, but her voice was barely audible but she was lucky her mom heard her after she called a second time.

"Oh, my baby! Thank goodness you're awake. I thought I was going to lose you."

Olivia couldn't understand why her mom would make such a statement. She only remembered having a bad dream where she was in the car with Jordan and they were having a heated argument before colliding with another car.

"The doctor said you weren't going to wake up for a long time because of the impact from the accident."

What accident was her mom talking about? Olivia wondered. Was the incident with Jordan not a dream?

She kept staring at her mom like she was speaking a foreign language, and then she unconsciously placed her hand on her stomach and noticed that her bump wasn't present.

"Where is my baby?" Olivia asked with panic in her voice.

"I'll go get the doctor, honey." Her mom replied avoiding the question.

"Mom, I asked you a question. Where is my baby?" Jennifer had a sad look on her face, Olivia only hoped she wasn't going to get a negative answer concerning her child.

"Please, tell me my baby is fine?" She pleaded.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. They couldn't save the baby."

"No! That's not true. I need my baby..." Olivia trailed before sobbing hysterically.

Jennifer couldn't watch her daughter in this state so she called in the doctor who was accompanied by two nurses. They had to inject Olivia with a tranquilizer to get her to calm down. Jennifer felt useless at the moment not being able to give her daughter any emotional support. When Olivia calmed down, she went unconscious. Her mom kissed her on the head before leaving the room to let Rachel who was in the hallway know that Olivia was now out of danger.

A series of tests were run on Olivia. As soon as the doctors confirmed that she was fine, she was free to leave the hospital. For the period of days Olivia spent in the hospital, she found out that Jordan had died on the spot. She felt bad knowing that in a way she was the cause of his death.

When she was fully recovered, Olivia went to visit Rachel, to console her concerning Jordan's death and also to tell her about the letters. They were both in the living room, Olivia was presently telling Rachel what happened before the accident. Rachel was speechless after Olivia told her about Jordan's confession of love to her and even went as far as lying about his brother's death just to have Olivia for himself. Olivia handed the unread letters to Rachel so she could use them as proof whenever she got a chance to talk to her son but Rachel refused to take them, saying that Olivia needed to go talk to Joseph herself, that he needed to hear everything from her lips.

Olivia stood in front of Jordan's room, reluctant to knock on the door. She turned around to look at Rachel who was standing behind her. Rachel gave her a nod of approval which made her pick up some courage, she took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
