Olivia noticed that Joseph hadn't been sending her letters as frequently as he used to. She figured maybe he was quite occupied with work. She convinced herself that everything was okay and to stop overthinking things, so to achieve that thought, she engaged herself more at work to get herself distracted.

It was lunchtime at Olivia's workplace. She decided to go to a nearby restaurant that day rather than the company's cafeteria. She ordered steak and fries for lunch. While eating she noticed a guy walking towards her, he looked quite familiar like she had seen him somewhere before but she couldn't remember where.

"Hi Olivia," the guy said smiling at Olivia.

"Hi?" she hesitantly replied.

"Do I know you?" She asked still trying to figure out who he was.

"Yes and No."

Olivia was confused at his reply.

"May I join you?"

"Oh, my apologies. Please sit."

"We went to the same high school," he started.

"I'm Justin, Jordan's best friend."

Olivia then got uncomfortable.

"Oh," was all she said.

"I know you and Jordan weren't best of friends."

Justin said staring at Olivia, trying to figure out her expression before he continued.

"I know about all he did to you back then. I even tried to stop him but he didn't listen."

Olivia just looked at him surprised at what he was saying.

"I want to say I'm sorry about what happened back then. I know I should've helped but I was a coward."

"Um, Justin, it's fine."

Olivia stopped him before he could go on blaming himself for what happened. She didn't want anyone to feel guilty when everything was now in the past.

"Jordan and I are friends now. We've settled our differences."

Justin was astounded by what Olivia just said.

"Wow... That's unbelievable."

"Yeah, so I thought." She replied with a small smile.

"Umm... So, what do you do now?" Olivia asked changing the topic.

"I'm an accountant."

"Really?!"

"Yeah. What about you?"

"Well, I work as a secretary."

"Nice."

"And Joseph?"

"He joined the military."

"Wow!"

"Umm. Are you- are you still friends with Jordan?" She awkwardly asked.

"Yeah. He was my best man at my wedding but we haven't been in touch of late,"

"You're married?!" Olivia exclaimed, surprised that he would settle down so soon.

"Yeah. I'm also a dad now."

"Congratulations!"

"Thanks...um, I don't mean to pry, but, are you and Joseph still together?"

"Of course, we are." She replied with a bright smile, slowly getting comfortable talking with Justin. He wasn't so bad after all, she thought.

"We're already engaged and will be getting married when he comes back from his peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan."

"That's great. I can't believe you both are still going strong in your relationship."

Olivia blushed at his comment.

They talked for a while longer before Justin stood up to leave.

"I have to be on my way now. It was nice seeing you again, Olivia."

"Me too," she replied then he left.

Olivia sat in the restaurant a little longer thinking about how she had always wanted to start a family with Joseph after college but now she has to wait longer for that dream to come true.

Olivia and Jordan were having lunch on a Friday afternoon when his phone rang.

"Excuse me," he said after wiping his mouth with a napkin.

"Sure," Olivia replied taking a sip from her glass of juice.

"Hello?" Jordan said after picking up the phone.

"Hey, Jordan. It's me, Justin."

Jordan was surprised to receive a call from his best friend after a long time. The last time he saw Justin was at his wedding.

"Hey man, it's been quite a long time. Where have you been?" He asked.

"I've been around. It's just work and family you know, having to do both isn't quite easy. I barely even have time for leisure." Justin said making Jordan laugh at his friend's comment.

"Well, that what's it takes to be a married man," he teased.

"Family man, Jordan. I'm a father now." Justin corrected.

"Woah! I wasn't expecting to hear that. It seems you aren't wasting any time now, are you?" Justin laughed at his friend's joke.

"I'm glad to have reached you, man. I thought we were never going to speak again after my wedding."

"Same here, man," Jordan replied.

"By the way, I saw Olivia the other day, and damn she looked so hot." Justin complimented.

Jordan stole a glance at Olivia as Justin said that but Olivia was busy with her phone. Jordan wondered who she was chatting with that got her full attention.

"We talked for a while," Justin continued.

"She told me you both are now friends. How come? You never told me about it."

"I'm sorry, man. It was sudden." Jordan replied.

"Maybe we can talk about this some other time?" Jordan suggested.

"Sure... Oh yeah, I'm having my birthday party tomorrow night, it's going to be dinner at my place. We can talk then."

"Okay, that's fine by me."

"And hey. You can come with a date so you don't get jealous of me." Justin teased.

Jordan smirked at that "Oh no, that's where you're wrong. You know I'm never jealous when it comes to you."

He said in return making Justin laugh.

"See you tomorrow, Jordan."

"Okay, bye," Jordan replied then hung up.

"I'm sorry about that," he then apologized to Olivia.

"Oh please, don't be. It's okay," she replied.

"Would you go out with me for a friend's birthday party?"

OMG
Did Jordan just ask Olivia to be his date at the birthday party?
