Currently, the class 1-A students were chatting amongst themselves in their waiting room just minutes before they were to be announced and walking out into the arena. We were all sharing the same nerves of excitement and nervousness, me rolling around in Mina's arms as she shakes me in anticipation. Adrenaline is activating my sympathetic nervous system, making my heart beat faster, diverting blood to my muscles and away from my gut. I was even stuttering in my speeches, but Midoriya was must worse than I.

"If only I could've worn my costume," Momo sighed.

I looked at from Mina crying... or giggling...? beside me. "Ikr! But they're not allowed as a result in fairness." I immediately took Jiro's hand and planted it to my heart, magnifying it's beats. "Am I nervous or not? I can't even tell anymore -- am I nervous and Midoriya is practically dying or I'm just fine and Midoriya is nervous?"

She glanced at Midoriya and back at me, raised an eyebrow, then laughed heartily. "None of them."

"T-Then?"

"If Todoroki looks as normal as ever, you're dead and Midoriya's in the afterlife."

"Not funny, Jiro!" I could barely hear myself over the fluttering butterflies in my stomach.

"(L/n) and Midoriya," a monotone voice I knew all too well startled me from behind my back. I suppose he's going to start mentioning his father and about how I can try not to catch his attention during the Sports Festival but, if I'm aiming to come first, there's no way I won't catch his attention -- unless you want to come first BUT I've made up my mind to beat you. Also, why is Midoriya involved?

I turned around to find Midoriya looking at me uncertainly then back and forth from the speaker to me. I faced the latter, and, with no sign of my previous nervousness, I spoke clearly, "Todoroki... what is it?"

"Objectively speaking," Todoroki stared into Midoriya's eyes, causing him to flinch. "I'm stronger than you. More capable." He faced me as well. "But All Might's got his eye on you, doesn't he. Now I'm not about to pry into why that is, but I--"

"--I will beat you." I stared back at his challenging eyes with determination. In truth, my guts were feeling so jittery inside from stealing his thunder. I could see Denki slightly cringing at me when I made my statement.

"OoOHHH! A declaration of war from the strongest in class?"

Red-boi glared sternly at Denki, then turned to Todoroki. "Hey, man, why pick a fight now? We're about to go in--"

"I don't really care. I'm not trying to be anybody's friend here." His eyes contradicted his words as his gaze on me softened.

However, my disappointed gaze on him didn't respond. I just shook my head in fear of what had happened to him after the villain attack. I couldn't just take his attitude so lightly after all we've gone through -- after what I've had to go through. I walked towards Midoriya and slapped his back still facing Shouto. "Todoroki. I'm not sure which statement of yours I should correct first -- whether you're stronger than us or you're going to beat us. If you're stronger than us don't just say it -- show it. If you're going to beat us, you'd better come first then. Of course, all of us are aiming to place on the very top -- why don't you say that to the whole class? Or the rest of the first-year students? Objectively speaking, it shouldn't matter who All Might favours and it also shouldn't matter to me if you're here to make friends or not. I'll repeat this again; everyone are aiming for the top. I'm not saying I'll come first but," I slung an arm over Midoriya's shoulder, staring deeply into Shouto's eyes. "We're definitely not gonna fall behind."
