I walked up to the gate, sighing as I brushed some hair behind my ear. It took me back to my senior year at U.A. High. I looked around at the empty court yard, taking in the scenery that looked almost the same as it did five years before. I messed with my sleeve cuff a little as I started towards the steps, heels clicking against the concrete. School wasn't starting for another week, but I had to meet with Nezu about the nurse position; I dressed up for the interview and everything. I stepped through the front doors and walked straight to Nezu's office, thankful that he hadn't moved it. I looked in before knocking, making sure he was in there. My knuckles made short soft knocks against the thick wood and it wasn't long before it was answered.
"Hello," he opened the door and smiled up at me, "Ah! Ms. Akahana, come in." I followed him inside and he took a seat at his desk, gesturing for me to take the seat across from him.
"Principal Nezu, it's nice to see you again," I smiled sitting down, "I'm sure you know why I'm here."
"Yes, about the nursing position," he stated, pulling out some papers, "Here are the files I'll need you to fill out, but of course from having you as a student some years ago I know you'll be fit for the job. These are just legal things," he held them out for me, "You won't start right away since the nurses office typically gets really busy in the first week."
I took the papers and smiled, "That's fine, I'm just glad to be home."
I drove through town, enjoying the sites as I made my way to my parents' house. I had gotten an apartment near Aizawa's to stay at, but I hadn't seen my parents in a month so they were my first priority. I pulled into the driveway, parked, and got out, pulling my small purse onto my shoulder before walking up to the front door. I knocked, excited to surprised them with me showing up as I waited for someone to answer the door.
"Hello?" Dad was the one to answer and he stopped after opening the door, his expression changing from surprise to full on joy, "Hotaru!" He exclaimed, pulling me into a bear hug. I let out laughter as I hugged back, I was on the verge of tears at that point. He pulled me inside and took me to see mom. We spent the afternoon talking about school and how I was going to start at U.A. as a nurse.
"Aizawa visits," mom stated, sipping her tea, "he always asks about you, and if you talk to us often."
I blushed and set down my cup, "He visits? He didn't tell me that. Then again we haven't spoken in a few weeks." I frowned, making a mental note to text him later.
"You should go see him," Dad looked over at me, "He misses you a lot."
I nodded, "Oh I plan to! I haven't gotten to see him in person in about six months and I think I might go insane if I wait any longer. I got an apartment in his area, so I'm excited to go home tonight."
Dad smiled and nodded, "Are you two dating yet?"
"Uh," I blushed, thinking about how long distance had made it hard for us to date, "Well we've talked about it?"
"What?" Mom gasped, "Honey, that poor man has been in love with you for years and you haven't started dating? You are literally the only thing he talks about when he comes over, if not his students."
I was dying inside, "Mom," I started sheepishly, "I was really busy with school work and medical hearings, I couldn't date because I was so preoccupied."
"Now dear," dad intervened, "I will vouch for her that medical school is very time consuming. You were my first girlfriend in years when you and I had started dating."
I relaxed as I looked over at dad to mouth a thank you. He nodded in reply before mom started up again, "Ok, I understand, but still. You should speak to him soon, if not tonight."
"I will momma," I chuckled gently, "I promise."
After having dinner with them I said my goodbyes and walked out to my car. I drove to my apartment that was a few blocks down from Aizawa's and parked there. I sat for a moment wondering if I should text first, or absolutely fuck up his night. I decided on just fucking up his night because I was too nervous to text him. I got out and walked down the sidewalk to his area and wondered if he was even home. I decided to use my quirk and looked into his apartment; I wasn't surprised that it still looked the same. I saw they got a new couch, but that was the biggest difference I saw. Hinata and Ayame were curled up on one of the chairs and I smiled seeing them. I looked in the kitchen to find Mic making something, so Mic would be the first to the door if I knocked. I looked back at Aizawa's room and found him sitting at his desk, doing some work on the computer; his hair was pulled back and seemed to look longer. He looked tired and annoyed as he typed, another student probably failed again had to retake his class. I sighed, watching him run a hand down his face. I started up the steps while shaking my hands out, my nerves were killing me. I raised my hand to knock and hesitated, feel a sudden wave of nausea. What if he gets mad, what if he doesn't want to see me? What if he hates me? I thought about what mom had said, but at the same time he was always happy to see me when I visited. I had war with myself for a good two minutes before I finally made my hand hit the door.
