Johnny's POV:
The school day had passed and I had football practice. Annie didn't have cheer practice so she just waited for me on the bleachers. I can imagine she was probably doing her homework. I wouldn't say Annie is nerdy, but I'm gonna say that just because she's not here to tell me not to. On a serious note though she is really smart, but I wouldn't consider her a nerd. Yes she might answer a few questions in class here and there, but that's on rare occasions when the teacher just calls on random people. I hate when they do that. Like if we don't have our hands raised we obviously don't know the answer so why-never mind. Anyways practice ends at 4:30 which is prefect. It gives me just the right amount of time to go home and get myself ready for my plans with Annie tonight
Annie's POV:
I didn't have cheer practice today but John has football practice so I have to wait for him. I sat myself down on the bleachers and pulled out my homework assignments. Since I'm going to be sitting here for two hours I might as well start my homework, right? Especially since I'm not gonna have the time tonight. I began working for roughly five minutes until I decided to take a break. Yes I know "five minutes and your already taking a break? What is wrong with you?" Well I'm sorry but calculus is boring ok! I took out my sketchbook and started to finish up a sketch of John. I didn't need him to be standing in front of me to know what he looks like. I've spent more time with him in the past month than I have with anyone else in the past six months. Even if I did need his face for reference I wouldn't need it at the moment because I was starting to shade every feature in. I continued to shade in his hair until I heard a small voice call my name
Asher: Annie right?
Annie: uh yeah and your Asher
Asher: that's me...do you mind if I sit?
Annie: oh...no,no not at all
Asher sat down next to me and sat his backpack on the floor. I hadn't noticed but his eyes are beautiful. They remind me of Johns
Annie: so what brings you here?
Asher: well I figured I'd wait here for Johnny considering I don't know my way around or where I'm going
Annie: yeah that's a pretty good reason
Asher: how about you?
Annie: well I'm waiting for John as well...we have plans later
Asher: oh...I see...do you mind if I ask something?
Annie: no go ahead
Asher: are you two like thing or something?
I sighed and answered his question
Annie: no, but everyone thinks otherwise...it's gotten to the point where people can convince me that we're dating when we're not. How crazy is that?
Asher: crazy...also I'm sorry if that question was offensive
Annie: no, no it's fine. I don't mind if you ask that question
We grew silent for a while. I looked back down at my sketch and continued. After a while Asher spoke out
Asher: what's that?
Annie: oh this is just a sketch I've made of John
I handed him the note book so he could get a better look
Annie: it's really bad but-
Asher: bad? This is amazing! Do you think you could do me?
I tilted my head and examined Asher's face. I grabbed his cheeks in one hand and moved his head side to side. He laughed which made it visible to me that he has the most defined dimples I've ever seen.
Annie: I think I can. You just need to stay super still..and I'm not kidding when I say that
Asher: ok...make sure to get my good side
Asher moves his head and pretended to flip his hair. I laughed and took my notebook back from him.
Annie: sure will
Asher repositioned himself to face me. I took a good look at him and took his chin in my hand. I moved his face so I could get a side angle. I released my grip on his chin and smiled.
Annie: perfect! Now please don't move
Asher: ok
Annie: you can also talk for now. I'll tell you when you can't, ok?
Asher: ok
I began drawing and as I kept on going something about this drawing seemed familiar and that's when it clicked
Annie: you know you and John have similar facial features
Asher: o-oh...w-wow...that's-yeah
Annie: I mean that's just makes it easier for me
Asher: that's good
Annie: yep!
Johnny's POV:
I was on the field when I noticed Annie speaking with someone and that someone was Asher. I kept on with my practice and didn't mind it much, but I would look over every once and a while. After I took a few glances I noticed she had her hand on his cheeks. I guess I felt some type of way about this because I couldn't take my eyes off of them. I didn't look away...that was until I got tackled to the ground by Carson. I wasn't ready for that. I groaned in pain as he got off of me.
Carson: sorry dude...just pay attention to me next time instead of your girlfriend who's clearly cheating on you
He extended his hand towards me to help me up. I reached for his hand as he pulled me up
Johnny: she's not my girlfriend
Carson: the way you look at her says otherwise
Coach Malik: JOHNNY AND CARSON, CHAT TIME IS OVER!
Johnny: sorry
Carson: my bad
We continued our practice, but I was off. Why is this effecting me? Why do I care? I don't like Annie, do I? She's been my best friend for 11 years! If I had feelings for her I would have known by now, right?Author:
I can totally relate to Johnny. He doesn't know if he's falling for his best friend and I understand that 100% and seeing them fall for someone else just sucks tbh but in my case he seems to be falling for one of my other closest friends which makes it even worse. In conclusion Johnny is portraying me throughout this book I guess🤧
