I use my enhanced speed, when I hear someone announce the witch factions act and make it when the music starts but the moment I hear the beginning of the tune, I freeze at the doorway.

~ Flashback ~

"Char, please!" My mother pleaded me as fourteen year old me slammed the door to the bathroom and locked it closed.

I just had a huge argument with Caroline regarding a boy we both had feelings for, but me being me, I let her go for him and they ended going on a few dates. However, today at school Dave (the boy) had cornered me at school and starting rambling his confessions about liking me then he kissed me.

Unfortunately, Caroline had seen this and left just before she saw me pushing him away and giving him a slap.

She then confronted me about it, in front of Elena, Bonnie and my history class where she called me names and wouldn't let me even say anything.

"Go away, mom!" I cry.

I hear her sigh and then her footsteps fade away, I felt like heartbroken, my own twin sister rejected me, my father left years ago and now I pushed away my own mother.

Soon I heard a few notes from the piano we had in the living room play into a familiar tune.

"Now, you know I can't sing but I guess this will have to do." She said before humming the song loudly and honestly out of tune.

She always did this, whenever I felt scared or sad, she would bring out this song.

Her horrible humming makes me giggle with tears running down my face, making me look like a crazy clown on the loose.

I unlock the door and slowly walk where my mother was, she had her back to me and was playing the keys.

Let me in, hold me close
Fill my heart with simple notes
So when it's hard to see,
They are there, reminding me
Take my breath, and hold me high
So I can feel the city lights
Glowing under me
It's in our reach, we're breaking out

I wipe my tears and clear my throat, helping my mom on the piano and she wraps her free arm around my back.

No, we're never gonna turn to dust,
Yeah, all we really need is us
Don't be scared to close your eyes
No, we're never gonna die, we'll be the stars
Oh, no, we're never gonna step too far
Yeah, we're holding on to who we are
When it's time to close your eyes
They will see us in the sky,
We'll be the stars!

Oh oh oh
We'll be the stars!
Oh oh oh
We'll be the stars!

We can reach the constellations
Trust me, all our dreams are breaking out
No, we're never gonna turn to dust,
All we really need is us
We'll be the stars!
