21 - Dream

Cross didn't have dreams very often. He usually either had a sleepless night, or nightmares. But this was different. He was dreaming, and he was sure of that.

He was standing in the middle of a field of green grass, the sun shining down on him as a soft breeze blew his scarf around. He heard several people laughing, and he instantly knew who they were.

Smiling brightly, he looked behind him to see his family. Not his biological one, but his mismatched, stitched-together one.

In the middle sat Dust and Killer playing UNO. It seemed like Dust was winning, as Killer was pouting, but they were both having fun nonetheless.

Looking to his right, he saw a tall tree, providing shade from the heat of the sun. Under it was Nightmare, relaxing as he read a book, and in it was Error, who had hung his strings in the tree to create a hammock for himself to sleep in and relax.

Their faces showed the relaxation and bliss they were in.

He then smelled a delicious smell coming from his left. When he turned in that direction, he saw Horror, cooking on the grill. The food looked delicious as always.

He took a step back and looked at everyone, all at once. He couldn't help but smile and run to them, laughing happily.

Even though he knew it was all just a dream, his soul filled with hope and happiness.

He wished for this to be true.

Far, far away was a confused golden figure. He stood in the middle of a void of black, staring at a shining yellow orb that showed the dreams of the owner.

Holding the glowing orb closer, he glared at it, trying to puzzle out what was going on, only for his thoughts to be cut short by a deep voice which sent chills down his spine.

"Didn't mother tell you it was rude to look at other's dreams, brother...?"
