Cross didn't know why he stayed, stayed in what many would call a half-life. He survived on X's half of the soul and stolen halves from others. His AU would never return, X-Gaster had made sure of that.
There were some pluses, he had met people he'd come to know as friends.
After the X-Event, and all of the chaos and destruction it caused, they'd all still given him another chance.
He was never going to be good.
He gave that up when he chose to live instead of dying.
Oh... this was why he stayed.
There was Nightmare, caring so much, but trying to pretend he didn't.
Dust and Killer were playing a weird game with knives, slowly putting the broken glass of their lives back together again.
Horror was watching TV, and slowly but surely, he was becoming less and less obsessed with food.
And there was Error, the most powerful of them all, but at the same time, more fragile then anyone else he'd ever known.
A family, as makeshift as it was.
He stayed for this.
