The next day they were abruptly woken up at four am by Jewel ripping their blankets of their beds, "Rise and shine, the plane leaves in an hour we have to go, unless you want to run and swim all the way there.", he laughed loudly.
Liam grunted and glared up at Jewel as he shuffled into the bathroom. Serenity giggled at her cousin, he had never liked waking up. "Christi has a private plane that was already heading to Europe." Jewel stated he still hadn't changed from the Hawaiian shirt and jeans, he had worn the night before.
"Did you even sleep?", Liam grumbled shuffling past him on the way to the bathroom.
"No I got caught up with some old friends I ran into last night.", Jewel shrugged, as though this happened all the time.
"So we heard a rumor last night", Liam paused splashing cold water on his face. "Is Anastasia alive?" You could hear a pin drop in the room following the question. Liam studied his grandfather's face through the doorway as the man gaped for a few moments taken completely by surprise.
"Well…. yes.", Jewel frowned "But, please try to see it through her eyes before jumping to conclusions. I'll let her explain, but she had good reason to do what she did."
Liam grunted but didn't reply as he shoved all of his things back in his bag. While Serenity took a quick shower.
A short while later the trio was being escotred through a rather large jet. "How did you talk Christi into letting us use her plane?", Serenity asked as they were led into a private room, it had blue couches along the windows near the door and tables with plane seats closer to the front of the plane, with a TV attached to the far wall next to a door, Serenity assumed lead to the cockpit and stewardess stations.
"I told her I would send some special plants that you can only find in the underground caves in Europe. I'm supposed to bring them back when I bring you both back for school.", he said giving his bags to the human stewardess.
She had long blond hair in a licked back ponytail and was maybe 90lbs soaking wet, wearing more makeup than Serenity thought possible, her fake eyelashes, fluttering at Liam as she stored the bags. Liam ignored her flopping down on one of the couches, pretending to sleep. Though, when she asked him if he wanted anything to drink, the corners of his lips turned up, in a mischievous smile.
She huffed, so slightly a human wouldn't have heard, before turning to Serenity, "Could I get you anything?", her fake hospitality, evident in her voice.
"Coffee with cream, please", Serenity stated, sitting down near the TV. The girl turned to Jewel, but he shook his head before she could ask.
Serenity watched the human news, a pretty woman with glasses talked about, pollution and other petty human issues. "Why can't they report the important things.", she said frustrated, as the blond stewardess brought her coffee.
"Like what, are you not interested in the environment.", the human asked looking at the screen. When Serenity didn't answer the girl walked back through the door she had come from.
"You two need to learn how to talk to humans.", Jewel chuckled at Serenity's awkward encounter.
"What is so special about the plants in Vathens.", Serenity asked swinging her chair to face Jewel, even Liam had opened his eyes the curiosity breaking his angry composure.
"Well, most of them glow… see there are no lights down there… except in the buildings.", he turned sideways to Serenity so he could see Liam as well. "Most of the creatures who live there either have naturally enhanced senses, or witches who use magic to help them navigate. The small amount of light produced by these plants isn't enough for a human to be able to see, they have guards posted at most of the entrances." He gave the evil grin his sons were famous for, "Most of the vampires that live in Vathens go to the entrances to hunt."
