I woke up with searing pain all over my body. I looked around and found myself in an alleyway, hidden by trash cans. I nearly puked at the stench of blood, but then I realized the source of it... I looked at my hands and saw that they were covered in blood. In fact, my whole body was bathed in blood. My eyes widened in fear and pain.

I let out a loud, bloodcurdling scream, for the first time in years.

My breathing became faster and faster until I started hyperventilating. Tears streamed down my face, turning red with blood. I cried silently as I saw a person's shadow appear, coming closer and closer.

"Hey are you ok–Oh my god! Are you okay?! What the hell happened?! Are you hurt? Oh that's a lot of blood. Can you walk?" A young woman said, her voice filled with care, as she approached me and knelt next to me. She couldn't be any older than 22.

I weakly nodded and shook my head at her questions. I tried to get up only to stumble and fall. I yelped in pain, struggling to sit up.

"Oh my god oh my god. Okay can you please stay still I'm going to call the cops! Oh god, can you try to stay awake until the cops arrive or ambulance?" The woman said as she pulled out her phone, dialing 911.

Her lips started moving but I couldn't hear anything coming out of her mouth. I stared blankly, struggling to stay conscious. My vision blurred every time I blinked. I clutched my face with my bloodied hands, murmuring to myself, eyes wide.

The woman ended her call and turned to stare at me, her face full of worry. "Don't worry kid, the ambulance should be here any minute! Just don't pass out on me. Take deep breaths, put pressure on you injury," She said.

I applied pressure on the place that had the most pain, my right arm. I shakily looked down at my arm, finally realizing the slashes all over my body, the deep ones on my arms. "Wi-will I-I b-be o-okay?" I asked shakily, staring at her in the eye.

"Don't worry kid, you'll be perfectly fine. Just keep taking deep breaths. You'll be okay, the ambulance is coming." Just as she said that, sirens could be heard not far away. "Please try to stay awake. I'm going to get them to come over here."

With that, she ran out screaming,"Over here! Over here! Come quick she's bleeding out!"

It felt like I was sitting there for hours, waiting for the ambulance to come over. I started hyperventilating again when the medics finally came over. My vision becoming black as I heard voices all around me.

"Quick we're losing her!"

"There's too much blood!"

"Out of the way!"

That was the last thing I heard before passing out.

I awoke in a hospital bed, hearing the beeping of my heart. I looked to my side and saw a needle pumping blood into my arm. My body wrapped in bandages from my neck to my legs. What the hell happened to me... one minute I was getting ready to take a walk, the next I'm in an alleyway bleeding out. The only person that could do that would be... Shadow. Why the hell is he?!

I tried sitting up only to have a piercing pain all over my body. I grimaced before looking up to see Em sitting on a chair next to me, her face full of worry. Once she realized that I was awake she almost jumped out of the chair to give me a hug, before stopping herself.

"Mel! You scared us so much. Don't you ever do that again! Next time listen to me! I thought we were going to lose you!" She said as tears flowed down her cheeks.

"I'm so sorry, I promise I'll listen to you next time. Don't cry! I'm okay see?" I said smiling.

That made Em cry even more. She clutched the blanket that I was wrapped in. Mrs. King and David walked into the room, along with the doctor.

"Oh good you're awake! I'm you're doctor, Dr. Murphy. I hope you're feeling better, you almost bled out on us. Now the police had wanted to have an interview with you, but we were able to convince them to talk to you tomorrow. We tried to contact your father, but it seems that he won't answer." The doctor said.
