I sat at my kitchen table, sipping from a hot mug of coffee, watching as David struggled to build the chair.
"Need help? If you want I could build it." I suggested as he shook his head.
"You already built the rest of the chairs last time. The least I can do is build this one so that my beautiful wife can rest." He said looking up, smiling.
"Hah! I know you're just trying to protect your masculinity. Come on, just let me do it! At least I know how to use the drill properly!" I laughed as he let out a frustrated sigh.
He dropped the drill and came over to me. He kneeled on the floor as he rested his head in my lap. "I'm supposed to be the man of the house and I can't even make a chair," he whined.
I let out a giggle as I ruffled his hair. "It's okay, David, you're still the man even if you can't build the chair."
Giggling filled the air as I heard tiny feet stomping around. "Momma! Papa! Look! I found a sticker!" A tiny voice said. I turned to the right to see a little girl running towards me.
"Aww really! Come show mamma!" I said, putting my coffee down and opening my arms for her to jump up. David brought his head up to look at her, his smile growing. He got off my lap and returned to building the chair.
My four year old daughter, an energetic little girl who loved everything. She had my black hair and her father's green eyes. She wore an adorable sky blue dress and she had stickers on her cheeks.
She jumped onto my lap, pointing to her cheeks. "See look! Auntie Em found a horsey and a doggy sticker! Do you like it?" She asked excitedly, her brilliant green eyes widening.
"Of course I love it Madelyn! Now why don't you go back playing with Auntie Em? I'm sure she's lonely." I said patting her had.
Madelyn started pouting before saying,"But Auntie Em is booooring! All she wants to do is sleep and think about mommy!"
David and I both stifled a laugh. I guess Em is still not over it. I hope she'll be able to get over it soon. Ack I want nieces and nephews already! I thought as I stared at my baby girl. I started attacking her with kisses as she giggled and squirmed on my lap.

I turned my head to look at my best friend. He has grown too. His horns grew longer and had more spikes. His "hair" grew longer, reaching his shoulders. His twisted smile had wisdom behind them, replacing the energetic feeling they had.
Don't spoil the fun for me! I said silently laughing.
I looked down at Madelyn, who sat still as she looked at where Shadow stood. Quickly, her expression became overjoyed as she pointed at Shadow.
"Momma! Can I play with Shadow? He's a loooot more fun than Auntie! Also what's the surprise? I wanna know" She asked, smiling as Shadow waved back.
I smiled. "It's nothing, and of course sweetie... just don't forget to take a break." For some weird reason, Madelyn is the only other person who can see Shadow. Maybe it's because only my blood can see it, but then my father would've been able to see him. It's a mystery as to how she can see Shadow, much less hear him.
"D̸͟͞o̸͟͞n̸͟͞'t̸͟͞ w̸͟͞o̸͟͞r̸͟͞r̸͟͞y̸͟͞ M̸͟͞e̸͟͞l̸͟͞, s̸͟͞h̸͟͞e̸͟͞'l̸͟͞l̸͟͞ b̸͟͞e̸͟͞ f̸͟͞i̸͟͞n̸͟͞e̸͟͞. A̸͟͞l̸͟͞s̸͟͞o̸͟͞ d̸͟͞o̸͟͞n̸͟͞'t̸͟͞ f̸͟͞o̸͟͞r̸͟͞g̸͟͞e̸͟͞t̸͟͞ t̸͟͞o̸͟͞ t̸͟͞a̸͟͞k̸͟͞e̸͟͞ y̸͟͞o̸͟͞u̸͟͞r̸͟͞ m̸͟͞e̸͟͞d̸͟͞i̸͟͞c̸͟͞i̸͟͞n̸͟͞e̸͟͞." He said as he pointed at the pills on the table.
I nodded as I grabbed the bottle, shaking two pills out. I swallowed the pills and sipped my coffee. These pills were supposed to help me remember what happened during the times I blacked out, but they don't work, if anything, they make my memory worse. But I take them anyway, after all the doctor recommended them... I think? Did she? I don't remember...
