I watched as my husband and my little girl played together. David his underneath a blanket as Madelyn tried to find him. An energetic little four year old who loved everything. She wore and adorable purple dress. She has my black hair and her father's green eyes.
She giggled as she wandered around the living room, searching for David. I leaned against a wall, smiling as my bundle of joy found my bigger bundle of joy. Her eyes lit with happiness as she tackled her father into the floor, hugging him. They both laughed as they rolled around. I turned to look at Shadow, who sat on the couch, watching their interaction with glee.
He turned his face to me smiling... sadly? I looked at him confused but turned back to watch as Madelyn jumped on her father's back, making him give her a piggyback ride. David jumped up, holding onto her tightly as he sped around the room. The room filled with laughter and the sound of feet thumping on the carpet.
David made train sounds as he sped laps around the room before finally stopping in front of me. "Welcome to mama station! All passengers please get off the train so that papa train can rest." David announced, making little Madelyn erupt in delight and laughter. David lowered his back so that I could pick up Madelyn. I picked her up as David slumped onto the couch, sighing.
"Man I'm exhausted! I guess mama will have to take care of you while papa takes a break." David said as he looked at me.
I smiled and teased,"I guess papa isn't strong enough to handle little Madelyn."
David has an offended look on his face before laughing. "Excuse me mama, but I'm the one that's been spending time with Madelyn while you've been watching Tv and eating chocolate."
I gasped in exaggeration, trying to look offended before brushing out in laughter. Madelyn, who thought we were actually fighting said,"No fighting! You should apologize to papa, mama! And you too papa!"
"If you say so sweetie, I'm sorry papa." I said while smiling. I kissed my baby girl on her cheek as she looked delighted.
"I'm I accept your apology and I'm sorry mama." David said, smiling widely.
"Now kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!" Madelyn chanted as she pointed to David. I nodded and walked towards David, bending down and giving him a kiss on the cheek. I smiled as David leaned up to kissed my cheek.
I glanced at Shadow as he nodded his head upstairs. "Mama's going to take a nap now, why don't you wake up Auntie Em and play with her while papa rests?" I said as Shadow pointed his floated up the stairs.
"Okay mama! Hey auntie!" Madelyn said as she zoomed into one of the guest bedrooms. I smiled before walking up the stairs, trailing behind Shadow.
Once we entered David and I's bedroom, I closed the door and sat on the bed. The bedroom had a large window in the middle with our bed. The theme of our room was supposed to be 'ocean', but it ended up with everything being blue and white.
So what do you want Sha? I thought playful as I leaned back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling.
"M̸͟͞e̸͟͞l̸͟͞, i̸͟͞t̸͟͞'s̸͟͞ t̸͟͞i̸͟͞m̸͟͞e̸͟͞ f̸͟͞o̸͟͞r̸͟͞ y̸͟͞o̸͟͞u̸͟͞ t̸͟͞o̸͟͞ l̸͟͞e̸͟͞a̸͟͞v̸͟͞e̸͟͞ t̸͟͞h̸͟͞i̸͟͞s̸͟͞ p̸͟͞l̸͟͞a̸͟͞c̸͟͞e̸͟͞ f̸͟͞o̸͟͞r̸͟͞e̸͟͞v̸͟͞e̸͟͞r̸͟͞ a̸͟͞n̸͟͞d̸͟͞ t̸͟͞h̸͟͞a̸͟͞t̸͟͞ b̸͟͞e̸͟͞a̸͟͞n̸͟͞s̸͟͞ y̸͟͞o̸͟͞u̸͟͞ c̸͟͞a̸͟͞n̸͟͞ n̸͟͞e̸͟͞v̸͟͞e̸͟͞r̸͟͞ c̸͟͞o̸͟͞m̸͟͞e̸͟͞ b̸͟͞a̸͟͞c̸͟͞k̸͟͞ h̸͟͞e̸͟͞r̸͟͞e̸͟͞." He said suddenly, causing my shoot upwards. I stared at him in shock.
What do you mean?! I-I can't leave! Life had finally been perfect for me! I don't want to leave my husband and daughter behind! And anyway, where would I go? I shouted in distraught.
"M̸͟͞e̸͟͞l̸͟͞, d̸͟͞o̸͟͞n̸͟͞'t̸͟͞ y̸͟͞o̸͟͞u̸͟͞ r̸͟͞e̸͟͞m̸͟͞e̸͟͞m̸͟͞b̸͟͞e̸͟͞r̸͟͞ t̸͟͞h̸͟͞e̸͟͞ d̸͟͞e̸͟͞a̸͟͞l̸͟͞ w̸͟͞e̸͟͞ m̸͟͞a̸͟͞d̸͟͞e̸͟͞? He said, like a mother calming their crying child.
I could feel the tears trickling down my cheeks. Why?! Madelyn needs a mother figure and David! Oh David's going to be heartbroken! I cried.
"S̸͟͞h̸͟͞h̸͟͞, d̸͟͞o̸͟͞n̸͟͞'t̸͟͞ c̸͟͞r̸͟͞y̸͟͞ M̸͟͞e̸͟͞l̸͟͞. He said, trying to make me feel better.
But I won't be there to see her myself! Madelyn will grow up wondering why I disappeared! David will wonder why I left him! I just can't! Give me more time with them! Please Sha..." I screamed at him, begging for more time with them.
But he just shook his head sadly and said,"I̸͟͞'m̸͟͞ s̸͟͞o̸͟͞r̸͟͞r̸͟͞y̸͟͞ M̸͟͞e̸͟͞l̸͟͞, I̸͟͞ c̸͟͞a̸͟͞n̸͟͞'t̸͟͞ g̸͟͞i̸͟͞v̸͟͞e̸͟͞ y̸͟͞o̸͟͞u̸͟͞ m̸͟͞o̸͟͞r̸͟͞e̸͟͞ t̸͟͞i̸͟͞m̸͟͞e̸͟͞. I cried even harder, knowing that there was nothing I could do to change his mind. Shadow hugged me tightly, comforting arms wrapped around me.
"C̸͟͞o̸͟͞m̸͟͞e̸͟͞ o̸͟͞n̸͟͞ M̸͟͞e̸͟͞l̸͟͞, l̸͟͞e̸͟͞t̸͟͞s̸͟͞ g̸͟͞o̸͟͞ h̸͟͞o̸͟͞m̸͟͞e̸͟͞."
