(Y/N) POV.
I hiked along a dilapidated road, chunks of the hard cement broken and scattered in different places, clearly proving the roads haven't been managed in over 200 years. Dogmeat trotted a little ahead of me sniffing every car and building, looking very pleased as he did so. I remember when I first found my favorite German Sheppard, he was the first living thing I'd seen out here, besides radroaches and the other monsters that tried to kill me. Ever since then he's traveled with me, he always seems to stick to my side, that's why I love him.

"Looks like we've got our work cut out for us pupper, guess it's my fault." Dogmeat lifted his gaze from a cardboard box he was studying to look up at me, cocking his head slightly to the side.

"I should have known that I wouldn't be able to get out of that death trap without being bombarded by quests." Dogmeat sauntered over wagging his tail I noticed that in his mouth he was carrying a stuffed bear. He rubbed his muzzle against my leg signaling for me to take it.

"Thanks, pooch, it's beautiful." I smiled at him sweetly. My smile fades when I notice the embroidering across the bear's back. To Mamma's little cub. Dogmeat whined and pawed at my stomach. "It's nothing, You worry too much." In the last second, I added, "Would I ever lie to you?" I reach down and gave him a light kiss on the nose.

I put the bear in my pack and gave him a goofy smile."Come on you sassy lassy, we gotta get a move on. I wanta go to Starlight Drive-in to sell some of my garbage before we carry out lord Preston's wishes." I laughed

Dogmeat's Prov.
'My name's not Lassy.... Right?'

*Time Skip*

(Y/N) Prov.

We've been walking non-stop for several hours and though he's trying not to show it, I can tell Dogmeat's exhausted. With each step, he takes more breaths then he should, and he's began to stumble and trip over nothing. At this rate he's gonna collapse if he doesn't get some rest, not that I wouldn't mind getting off my feet a bit. I could see a run-down bodega that looked safe from here, that would have to do for now.

"Come on Dogmeat let's catch a breather for a bit, won't be helping anyone if we die of heat stroke." I motioned to the small shop, Dogmeat happily obliged.
