-Two Weeks After Dogmeat Has Been Saved
The house was quite, though not the type of silence that provokes caution or fear. The kind of soft clinking of pots and chopping of meats that's soothing in a weird way. No one was up except Dogmeat and I. He seemed happy playing with the little bear he had given me so I didn't mind. The sound of my cleaver chopping brahmin meat was almost rhythmic. After every chop was a splash and a plop.
"What do you think, should I add some carrots, Tato's maybe?"
Dogmeat dropped his bear and trotted over to lick my arm. "Great idea Puppers."
There was a dull thump followed by muffled laughter and sharp grunts.
"What in the heck is happening up there!" I yelled
"It's Hancock he's high off his a-!"
"Again!" I responded interrupting Maccready sentence.
"Hey! You guys know I like a good scoop just like everyone else, but I'm going to need my rest thank you very much." Piper groaned from her room.
"I'm coming." I mumbled placing the pot of food on the fire pit outside before climbing up the stairs to see what's going on. I could hear Hancocks voice from down the hall. It lead me to the room i had given Maccready for the week. The first thing that caught my eye was a dresser that took me three days to build it laid on the ground wood in splinters.
I stood in the door way appalled."What... happened... Maccready!"
"It wasn't me I told you what happened. I was sleeping and he came in like a lunatic and broke your desk." Mccready pointed to Hancock who was stifling laughter.
"Do y'all know how long it took me to make." I said pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Look I'm sure we could get it fixed." Maccready knelt down and started pushing around pieces of wood.
"Maccready no- no- just stop." I sighed running my fingers through my (H/C) hair. "You guys are gonna are gonna help me with Christmas dinner." I started down the hall.
"Christmas are you serious (Y/N)?" Maccready laughed. "Don't you think we have more important things to be doing?" Almost dragging Hancock down the hall to keep up with me.
"Yes, Christmas. Just because this place is a wasteland of irradiated mutants and monsters doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate the holiday season." I reach the front of the house crossing the door way to the outside. I stirred my pot of boiling meat and vegetables once or twice telling my helpers to watch the pot. I trotted off to the vegetable fields hoping when i came back the house wouldn't be burned down.
"Hey there (Y/N)!"
I looked around to see my favorite Synth Detective getting up off a bench. "Oh Hi Nick! I beamed up at him then started pulling carrots out of the soft soil. "Why ya out here, you did get my invite right?" I stopped pulling out carrots for second in wait of an answer.
He shrugged slightly with the sentence. "Ya, i was at the door. There was a lot of screaming so I decided it would be best for me to wait it out and see what would happen."
"Oooooh yeah, THAT." I shook my head with a bit of a smile. "A couple of our friends decided it was a good idea to come last night. So like most times it's a bit crazy." I rolled my eyes while balancing the carrots in my arms. "Uhhh but if you want you can come on in... I'm sure everyone will be happy to see you." I lightly hugged the carrots I was holding, my cheeks dusted in pink.
