lana's pov

9:15am

it was saturday so that meant work. i was a waitress at the little diner in town. it was called b's after the owner barbra thomas, she was the sweetest old lady, almost like a second mom to me. she has owned it for as long as i can remember and i've worked there since i was fourteen.

after shaking off the headache with a cold shower, i got dressed into my uniform. a light pink blouse, black slacks and a server's apron tied around my hips and with the most uncomfortable black flats.

my hair was knotted into a bun, still wet from the shower but it wasn't going to dry in time.

i typically worked from ten to four on saturdays but sometimes i stayed longer depending on business. i really liked my job; the regulars were super nice and it was overall a fun environment for me. all the cooks love me and they have since i started working there. i only worked one day a week so it wasn't bad. sometimes, i'll pick up a thursday night shift but that's rare.

i turned off my car engine in my parking spot outside the diner and grabbed my key for the front door.

the morning started off like any other typical saturday morning.

taking all the chairs down

mopping the floors

wiping down the counters

refilling anything on the waitress stations

brewing coffee

and rolling silver wear

we open at eleven, leaving me just under an hour to do everything i need.

the two cooks were already here, being that they get here at nine. as i pushed the swinging doors open they both greeted me.

"good morning lana." ash called over the hum of the exhaust fans

"good morning ash and good morning will."

"morning." will replying with the tip of his baseball hat. he was from gerogia. his southern charm and accent still stuck with him.

around ten thirty the other waitress came in. her name is joyce. she's a nice girl but I wouldn't say i.... like her. she's kind of bitchy but she does her job and that's about all i can ask for. she just complains about customers but they just complain right back to me.

the whole bar fills up with regulars by eleven fifteen and i begin the next busy five hours.

5:45pm

i shook my hair out of my tight bun and let the water rain down on my head. after washing the smell of restaurant off me, i wrapped myself in a pale blue towel and sat down on my bed

my phone vibrated against the comforter

dr
lana, answer me! I wanna see you.

6:23
me
come over, doors unlocked.

i rubbed my fingers on my temples

here we go again... he's got me wrapped around his finger like a band aid
