Chapter 1

It was their last four-minute break. Nicki and her friends met up at her locker. She, Sherika, Candice (Candi for short), Thembi and Lauren have been best friends since they first met in middle school. Their friendship was one of the most valuable things she had and Nicki cherished it for life. They never spent more than a couple of days away from each other. With them, it was all or nothing, ride or die.

Currently, they were chit-chatting about their day while Nicki just exchanged her books for the next class.

"Nicki, why are you so quiet today?" Candi asked. Nicki sighed.

"It's my Math teacher.... Making me tutor this guy Drake..."

"Hol' up? Drake, as in, the captain of the basketball team?" Tnembi has just arrived,

"Yeah, I think it's him."

"Wow, lucky girl." Sherika said.

"Lucky, why? He's so rude?" Nicki just didn't understand what was so special about him.

"Really? I think he's the sweetest."

"I seriously don't get what y'all see in him. What's so special about him?"

"Lightskin..."

"Tall..."

"He plays basketball."

"Curly hair..."

"Juicy lips..."

"Sexy..."

"Cute brown ey-..."

"Okay, I get it." Nicki cut them off. "Still, I won't fall for his ass."

"Alright, if you say so..." Just then, the bell rang. One more class to go and school was over, except for Nicki.

4:09, happiest hour of all, the students get to go home now. As the bell rang, classes were being dismissed and students were gathering their things to leave. Nicki met up with Lauren on her way to the front entrance. They were having a short convo. Eventually Lauren's boyfriend approached and started catching up with them, more like Lauren. Love birds. I should get a boyfriend to rub it on her face, see if she likes how that is, she thought. They were waiting outside, then Candi, Sherika and Thembi came over to them. They talked and all and suddenly Nicki felt a tap on on shoulder and turned around which aroused her crew's attention to look at her way. It was Drake, he simply just handed her a piece of paper and left. She looked it up and smiled, then looked up to everyone looking at her.

"What?" She asked.

"What was that about?"

"Just his address."

"Just his address? Why would he want to meet up with you at his crib?"

"I'm tutoring him."

"Hmm, be careful." Lauren's boyfriend warned her.

"Why be careful? It's just tutoring."

"I'm just saying... He's a player."

"I know better to fall for players. I'll be okay." She looked at the address to try and capture the location around the city. "Okay, then... Who's house we're going to today?"

"Sherika's." All responded.

"Why mine?"

"We haven't chilled at yours for a while."

"Ugh. Fine. But my mom said she doesn't want people over by 6."

"Fine with us."

"Let's go." They all raced to one of the last school buses that were waiting to be filled up.
