losing weight part 3

_____________

"Meredith, that's too much for tonight." 15.

"Meredith, that's enough." 13.

"Olivia, stop defending her." 11.

"She has to go to the doctor. I don't want her to stay like this forever." 10.

"I think that your tummy is full, sweetness." 9.

"Your tummy is gonna be big, darling? Do you want that?" 8.

Harry read his own words written across the paper. Each quote of his had ended with a number, signalling the age of the little girl.
His pale eyes burned. Like fire. His gaze followed every letter written by her as his long fingers slowly turned the pages and it was his body that was burning. No longer Meredith's.

"Am I not good enough? :("

He would do anything to let her know that she indeed was enough and that she was his light and map.
Yet with time, the map would break and the light would fade away.

Harry didn't know. He never thought that the words his eyes looked at, sounded as pathetic as they looked like. Calling his own daughter names she didn't deserve. That was low - even for him.

The battered book he held in his hands was the one he had gifted her for her tenth birthday. Meredith had promised Harry that she would use to book and he was pleased as he heard that.

"Harry, darling.", Olivia lightly knocked on the wooden door, making Harry lightly jump at the sound.
"Sorry.", she quickly apologised and walked towards him.
Olivia looked at what he was reading and slowly sat down beside him, wrapping an arm around his broad shoulders.

"You should stop reading that. It's not healthy.", she rested her cheek against his shoulder.
"I also thought that our daughter wasn't healthy and look at where we are now.", Harry lowly responded.

"Everyone makes mistakes-"
"Deadly mistakes. Ain't I right?", he abruptly stood up and threw the book back on the bed.
"Stop being an idiot, Harold. What happened happened. We can't turn back time. Accept the fucking truth. She's happier now.", Olivia's voice was covered in anger until it all faded away after her last words.

"Happier?! She could've been happy here, if she had told us about how she felt!", Olivia bitterly laughed at his words.
"Never, Harry. You've never hugged her to feel how her body became fragile and light. Never. She was silently screaming for help and you chose not to notice. I tried to make you understand that weighing a few pounds more than someone else is okay! I helped her as well as I could. She already knew how it was going to end..."

And it all made sense.

"I'm full."

"I'm not hungry anymore"

"I've already eaten."

It all made sense. But he was too late and the not so little girl was finally happy.
