Hold On

Jon jumped a little bit. He looked over at Evan, he was bleeding.

"Crap! Hold on Evan."

He took off his coat and applied pressure to his wound. Evan then fell unconscious. Crap. Everyone in the club were being escorted out of the area. The guy that Evan was with called an ambulance for him. Everything happened so fast. The ambulance arrived five minutes later.

Jonathan watched as they took Evan away. The guy stood there with them. He was shaking as he lit a cigarette. Jon sat down across from him.

"Do you think he's going to be okay?"
"I hope so."

The sighed as silence washed over.

Jon booked a hotel room a couple nights before and decided to call Luke when he got there.

"What's up dude? Did you get to tell Evan yet?"
"No. His engine broke down after the show so I drove him to a club he was supposed to be at. We were having a great time until he got shot."
"Is he okay?"
"I hope so."
"Oh god, I'm so sorry Jon. This is all my fault for wanting you to chase after him."
"It's fine. I'll try to work with it."
"Tell me when he gets better. I want to see you two happy."
"Alright. Good night Luke."
"Night Jon."

He smiled and hung up. As he tried to fall asleep, he wondered about Evan's condition.

He woke up the next day and immediately drove to the hospital. He needed to make sure he was stable.

He got to the hospital 30 minutes later. Jon was out of breath when he asked the lady at the front desk for Evan's room number. Once he received it, he rushed to his room. When he arrived, he saw the same guy from last night waiting outside Evan's room.

"Oh, hey."
"What are you doing here?"
"I've been here for a while. They're doing tests on him."
"Oh."

It was quiet. Jon couldn't help but think that it was all his fault. He shouldn't have listened to Luke. He shouldn't have gone to New York to chase after Evan. The door opened and the doctor looked at the two men.

"You may visit him now, but be careful. He just got out of surgery."
