Shadows/White Demons

I've been inhabited by a shadow
A dark creature
With a mind of its own
And now it grips on mine
I wasn't always this way
There used to be a light
Some hope
And a lovely smile
But it all changed when I met a white demon

White demons are simply mimics of angels
They allow you to believe
To think
That you are lovely,
Wonderful,
Perfect,
And they seem like they will guide you to the end

But they're thirsty for blood
And at any moment
They will rip you open
And take what they can
Yet you smile all the while
Thinking you're being a "good guy"
Helping has no harm
And you'd do anything that makes them happy

Yet...
What do you do
When suddenly there's a dance
A dance you don't understand
And the white demon isn't your friend
They don't want to be now
So they let out this awful screech
And they claw at you
Letting you belive it's your fault
That you did it all wrong

What do you do?
When suddenly they're coming for blood
And you try to escape
But their claws are so long
And it feels like there's no way out
You're trapped!
You're trapped and you can't breathe!

They say they love you
While they beat you with chains
And your mind can't handle it
It can't handle anymore!
So you curl up...
And shut down...
You feel like you're dead.

That's when the shadows creep in
They're not bad
They're not good
They just force you to survive
Your mind is suddenly dark
And it's cold inside
The white demons hunt the shadows
But they know how to fight
Doesn't mean they'll win though

The white demons still come for blood
It feels like it never ends
And it feels lonely
To be inhabited by a shadow friend
To be pushed around in your head
When someone wants to love you
Suddenly you won't let them
You're scared they're another white demon
That you'll get tangled up in their lies
But as you run
Friends are always by your side

Sometimes you run into others
Other people inhabited by a shadow too
This barrier gets lifted up
And you feel or understand
The pain of their white demons
And all that comes from them
It's like peace in your brain
And the shadows leave
When suddenly you're seen
As a living human being
Your mind is cleared
And you start to see
That someone can love you
That's when the white demons
