CHAPTER 3

The Surprise Guest

I walked out of the classroom and went to the Principal’s office. The principal was there, along with the other teachers waiting for me.

Why are they accusing me for the thing I didn’t even do?

I stepped in front of them. I waited for a while then Mr. Ethan spoke, “Well, well, how can you explain that explosion, Ms.Chacer?”

“Sir, I don’t know how that happened.”

“Confess and we’ll not expel you… Now!”

“Look, I swear I didn’t do that! Just expel me if you want.”

“Don’t threaten me. I can do that!” Mr. Ethan said.

“Sir.” Ms. Sheryll said “do you have any evidence against her?”

        “Well. . .”

“Then how can you accuse her?” Ms. Sheryll asked.

        “Because she’s there and . . . .”

        “She can’t do that!”

“She can!” Mr. Ethan said. “She’s there... on the place where the explosion happened!”

“What if maybe somebody planted a bomb or something under the chairs and tables and wants to blame her!” Ms. Sheryll said.

Mr. Ethan cannot speak. I can finally breathe now. Thanks to Ms. Sheryll. She defended me.

“You should be thankful that there’s no reason to expel you, Ms.Chacer. “Mr. Ethan said “And Ms. Lee, would you walk with her to her house?”

        “Yes. Sir!”

I went back to our classroom. I noticed that all of the students were gone. Maybe they went home because of the explosion. I got all of my things and went outside. Ms. Sheryll was waiting for me in the doorway.

        “Let’s go, Amanda.” she said.

        I came with her.

When we’re hundred meters away from the school, I said, “Thanks, Ms. Sheryll”

“No problem.” She replied “I know you can’t do that.”

“So, do you believe I didn’t do that explosion?” I asked.

        “Of course.”

        “Why?”

        “Because I know you.”

Before I could ask we arrived at our house. Of course, my mom wasn’t there. She’s still at her work. I was alone. I asked Ms. Sheryll if she could stay here for a while.

“Sure” she said “I want to know more about you.”

        “Come inside.” I said.

I prepared some food and drinks for the two of us. After that, I brought it in the living room where she was waiting for me. I sat down across her.

“So, you’re alone here?” she asked.

“No. I live with my mother. She’s still at her work. Maybe later she’ll arrive. “I said.
