"Good afternoon sweet Misaki!"

Mr. Burnett's cheerfully loud voice shook me awake more than the warm coffee in my hands as I jolted in his direction. Bless the man's heart, but I wondered if he was this excited to see every customer and if so where can I get that energy spike.

"How are we, Mr. Burnett!" I smile cheerfully at the elderly man who feels like family at this point.

"I am well, so I never asked you about that situation that happened in here last week... was that hooligan bothering you?" He came off so protective when the words "hooligan" left his mouth.

"Oh, uh no no he was just upset but everything's fine."

Mr. Burnett shot me a look like he didn't believe me as I raised my hands up in defense.

"I promise" letting a small chuckle out so he understands I am telling the truth. He hesitates a bit before nodding his head. I was pretty thankful I had someone like him in my life who constantly looked out for me.

"Well good, you deserve the world child. I know you would never let these silly boys push you around... You remind me of my wife every day."

I smile knowing how much he misses his departed wife and nod respectfully.

"Thank you sir, she sounds lovely."

"Oh, she was dear. Well, anyways no more sad talk! I have some new copies in the back in isle three if you want to check them out."

"Thanks so much, sir! My friend should be showing up any minute actually so I will look quick."

"Sure dear, whatever you want!"

As I made my way to isle three I scanned the titles and decided on two new books. Everything in my life seemed to be going well at this point in time, but my fucked-up mind couldn't help but think about how it all could be too good to be true. Like when will everything hit the fan. Bakugou and I were dating and Shoto seemed to be ok with me now. I really just hoped everything will stay this settled for a bit.

Hearing the front door chimes fill the store I look to see Shoto pushing his way through. He was wearing a black turtle-necked sweater and matching pants with an oversized coat. Shoto always had a cool way about him. The way he talked, walked, really his overall presence.

I watched as he waved to Mr. Burnett before meeting my gaze. A soft smile spread across his face as he made his way towards me.

"Hey Misaki" his velvet tone vibrated from his lips as I smiled up at him.

"Nice of you to show Shoto" I laugh. He may always be cool, but the man was always late. Since we have finally talked everything out we have made an active effort to build our friendship back up. We both decided it was healthy to build from the ground up. He filled me in on most of his family life, minus his brother. That seemed to be a tough subject so I just let it be.

"Hey! I'm here now so quit the complaining" he laughed rolling his eyes.

"Well grab a coffee and let's sit outside or something" I smile making my way to the front.

Mr. Burnett quickly pours Shoto a cup giving me a smile.

"So who is this Misaki?" He seemed very interested as he looked Shoto up and down.

"This is an old childhood friend Mr. Burnett, his names- "

"Shoto Todoroki sir" He already had his hand extended across the counter as Mr. Burnett's eyebrows raised in surprise.

"Well I'll be, you're also Endeavors son" I could almost see Shoto's spine tighten, but he remained respectful as Mr. Burnett took his hand, "Pleasures all mine son. Enjoy your coffee you two."
