Kehlani's living room visual:
October 14th, 2025
Sunday, 12:38am, Miami, Florida - Costco WholesaleThe procedure was done. There weren't any complications—thank God—and Lauren was able to carry what was soon to be their baby in her body for five days, then it was transferred to Camila who became pregnant; they both played a part in growing their baby. Officially, Camila was now eight weeks into her term and it was madness. She was on a rollercoaster. There was the cramping, spotting, unexplainable pain and spasms, mood swings, sore/leaking breasts that made her cry for hours, fatigue and more sensitivity with her senses, sometimes she'd have morning sickness, intense nausea, and so on. She still went to work, practiced mediation before seeing students, got through homework with Lauren's help, and carried on pretty much normally on her (few) good days.
Lauren, on the other hand, was completely lost. The reality of them having a baby never hit her until she spoke to her friends (who were parents) about it. Even Mike told her a thing or two about what to expect that freaked her out a little. The COO was a lost cause who was undoubtedly losing her mind a lot more than Cruz or Camila was; those two were fine, Cruz was mostly just excited and eager to experience having a younger sibling.
The office was closed today—which gave Lauren a ton of free time to have Simon and Javie accompany her with shopping in advance and learning all there was to know about being a parent. In this case, Lauren was technically a mom but was playing the role of the "dad" since she wasn't the one required to carry for nine months then give birth. Simon was a seasoned dad and Javie—even though he was just starting out when Kehlani gave birth in June—knew enough to help Lauren figure some of it out.
"See this white noise machine right here?" Simon held it up then dropped the box into the moving shopping cart Lauren pushed down one of the many aisles. "This will be your new best friend if you're hoping to get any decent amount of sleep by the time that lil nugget pops out of the oven. The sound mimics the roaring they hear in their mother's belly, that's soothing for the baby—babies love sound. It can block outside noise from coming inside the room as well. And if you're anything like me, accidentally bumping into things or slamming a door shut too loud outside the baby's room won't wake them up."
"Aha'," Lauren studied the picture of the machine on the box, pushing up her bottom lip in approval. "That makes sense."
"Know what also makes sense? Butt paste," Javie came down the aisle, returning from a different section with said paste. He showed it to Lauren then tossed it into the cart. "It doesn't matter if your baby has a rash or not. You use this on em' every time you're changing a diaper, they'll never get one. I swear by it so far."
"But what DOESN'T make sense is lying your baby down after feeding them. That's when they get fussy and gassy. You should always keep your baby at an angle and it'll help their digestive system. I learned that with Summer, she's a crying little stink bomb and that's all Valerie's fault," Simon randomly added after passing a shelf of bottles.
