So It Begins

Demigods.

Percy had heard a lot about demigods.
Most of his knowledge came from bedtime stories that Adam told him during his first couple years with the Hunters. Stories like the Little Red Hunting Wolf, about a wolf who was wandering through the woods and, upon being brutally attacked by a demigod, killed and ate her; the Wolf that Cried Boy, about a wolf who alerted the pack to a spying demigod and saved then from an ambush; and Percy's favorite: the Three Little Demigods, which detailed a wolf's hunting and killing of three demigods who were on a quest.

These stories had not prepared Percy for the fact that demigods were indeed out there. The attack and subsequent death by injuries of Polemistis and his two partners at the hands of demigods drove this home. Demigods really were out there. They weren't just some mythical monster that terrorized wolves and werewolves. And Percy would have to deliver revenge upon the ones that killed Polemistis.

The Arena

Percy ducked a jab from Adam. Bringing his fists up, he blocked his Alpha's follow-up cross. Percy tried a quick kick at Adam's knee, but was blocked. Adam, catching Percy off balance, threw a haymaker that caught Percy square on the left temple. Head ringing, Percy backed up a step to try and regroup, but Adam pressed his advantage and knocked Percy's legs out from underneath him with a low side kick. Percy fell to the ground with a grunt.

"Good work, Percy," Adam said as he slid his gloves off and his shirt on.

Percy groaned in reply from floor. "That's what, the thousandth time you've won?"

"That doesn't matter. What matters is that you're improving exponentially."

A messenger ran in from the Arena entrance. "Sir," he panted breathlessly, "Scitus and his team have found Polemists's notes on the prophesy."

"It's about damn time. Took nearly three years about it." Adam replied dryly.

"Alpha, these notes... They have a lot of information. Scitus requested that you hurry on down to the site. And," he added as an afterthought, "Alina's there too."
That got Adam's attention. If his mate was there, he'd be sure to get a move on. "Come on, Percy. We're moving out."

About a Half Hour Later

"What took so long?" Scitus immediately asked upon seeing Adam and Percy run up to the group of Huntsmen in the woods.

Adam glared at him. "We came for the update on Polemistis's information. Give it to me." Alina put a calming hand on his shoulder.
"Do settle down a bit. In all fairness, you did take a long time in coming."

Scitus shrugged. "Polemistis managed to witness some of the Oracle's prophesies before the demigods found him out. According to this, the prophesy will come to pass in roughly two thousand and one years."

"How did he know the date?" Percy asked. "I thought a prophesy's time couldn't be predicted."

Sci shrugged again. "I have no idea how he could know this. But it's in his notes and I have full confidence in Polemistis's abilities."

"Of course." Adam replied. "The only question is how the big man will take this. After all, this whole anti-gods thingy is his plan. Our excuse and funds for a war against the gods, but his plan."

Percy wanted to know who this 'big man' he'd been hearing about was. "Let's go tell him. That'll show us his reaction."
