his heart was iced over through the years of pain, neglect, misery and the inability to love the way he could be loved. hidden beneath the solid and brutally strong barricades, a tiny flame flickered, holding on so desperately before the coldness could snuff it out entirely. others before me had only come close enough to glimpse the surface but i could see the steady webs of patterns crisscrossing his crystal clear heart, almost feeling the flicker of warmth. i was close enough to shattering it, and reaching into the ember of fire inside but i was thrown out of your life before i could so much as feel the heat after the cold.
