we fell in love through phone screens, through
our ears pressed desperately against our phones;
our unspoken words carried across the aching
void. sunrise after sunrise, we imagined hands
on bodies, mouths pressed against skin. then
came the forgotten texts, the missed calls. the
static that grew between us; it's dismal, quiet murmuring challenge. and i knew then deep
inside, there were others just like me, who
had found themselves caught up in your
captivating orbit from being fed on your
lies and manipulation; too afraid to let
go of what was not reality.
